Does anyone know if it is worth taking certain items to haggle with, maybe camera's or mobile phones ?
Edit to lower case please do not use Cap's on the Forum Briar
I am due to fly out in Nov and stay at the LTI Grand Azure all inclusive, but do fancy a couple of night outs in Namma bay. I haev read all these topics about being hassled, as it does get on my nerves, what is it like?. When I was younger and went to places like Tenerife and Gran Canaria i stayed away from the bars because of the PR'S dragging you in, I understand the hassle in Egypt is from shop owners not bar owners.
The Taxi drivers will pull up along side you as you are walking down the road or beep at you, just make a signal to say you dont want a cab (Shake your head) or shout NO very loudly, we found this worked for us.
The same pretty much applied to the shop keepers, they will come up to you and ask you to sign their book or look at there shop, the main thing is to firmly say no thank you and then carry on walking, if you stop to talk to them its encouraging, if you carry on walking they should leave you alone quite quickly.
It really isnt as bad as you think, as long as you are polite but firm they usually give in and move straight on to the next person.

No it isn't - if you don't make eye contact it's easier to avoid the shopkeepers but La Shukran normally works.
Enjoy your hols, cannot wait to go back
Could anyone tell me if you have to haggle over the price of everything or are there places where you are not expected to haggle.
Also do you have to haggle over the prices of trips and excursions?
Thanks Elaine
going in december....sorry but what does la shukran mean..thanks Gavin
Shukran means THANK YOU....
thanks sheba....will give it a go if needed ....Gavin
Haggling is definately recommended and is generally expected, in most shops, so try it out! They will generally try to tell you they are giving you a special price, but still give it a go, as their special prices aren't all that special!
thanks sazzlewilson.....like a good haggle.....turkey veteran...its a must...Gavin
