A typical white-washed Andalusian village and although it's now a tourist ‘trap', it's still a beautiful quaint place full of charm.
I don't like using the word ‘trap' because you could go to Mijas and spend nothing and still have a great day out, and whilst the village is a 15/20 minute bus ride from Fuengirola, the pueblo is as far removed from Fuengirola as you can get, and could be a million miles away.
The ‘Virgin of the rock' shrine, the church of the Immaculate Conception, and the breath taking views looking across the countryside and the concrete coast are all free, and for a small fee (it used to be 3 euros) you can go inside the bullring and there's a little museum inside of famous bullfighters and their costumes, although Mijas bullring is not round, it's almost rectangular and I believe the only one in Spain this shape.
There's also the Casa Museum and during certain months flamenco shows and wine tasting events, and during September the annual Mijas fair.
Well worth a visit, go on, drag yourself away from the beach and visit Mijas pueblo"¦.you'll love it.
