re desk jockey's earlier post on replacement aircraft for long haul flights - what is the registration of the 283 seated Thomson 763 ?
Notice that 2 X Thomson long haul flights yesterday were with former Thomsonfly aircraft so somebody must have got the short straw - no Premium! :cry

G-OBYD is the "ex" TOM long haul aircraft, it does have a premium cabin. It mainly operates from BHX and occasionall GLW.

For the last 2 days the long haul routes out of MAN have been operated by G-DBLA (ex First Choice 258 seats with premium cabin) and G-OBYG 328 seats no premium cabin. Today the MAN - SFB route is being operated by G-OBYF TOM Liveried aircraft, 328 seats no premium cabin.

You are correct that some passengers will get an unwelcome surprise at check in!

Still no news on how long PJLO is at LTN for? and when / if it will return into mainline service.

Hi,
I have previously been told that my flight (TOM714) in a week Monday ( :) ) will be operated by a 767. I was wondering if anyone knew where the plane comes in from so I can keep an eye out for delays etc. I have tried keeping an eye on it in recent weeks but cant seem to figure it out!
Also, do you think the long haul a/c problems will mean we could be downgraded to a smaller plane? I do hope not, looking forward to my own TV

Thanks in advance

We were in the premium cabin of G-OOBL which, you mention, had little or nothing done to in in the refurb. The seats were flat as pancakes compared to G-PJLO, and the cabin generally seemed shabby with such things as a seat-back pocket hanging off.

Nothing to do with the qualuty of the plane, but the flight also wasn't helped by the toilets one by one going out of service so that 90 minutes from landing at MCB there was only one functioning and the flight deck seemed to be debating whether they might have to divert to sort it out. Thankfully they didn't and we landed just 20 mins late, still ahead of the TCX flight.

Darren,

Cheers for that. Do the Egypt flight's change type depending on the day. There are two were looking at. Thomson Saturday or Sunday, and the Monarch (which i know is a A332) on the Sunday. Or do they just send the 737-800 now a days?

And why the 2 hour turn around time. Guess this means a change in the crew?

I apologise in advance if this question has already been asked, but I have looked on here and on the First Choice and Thomson websites and cannot find what I am looking for.

We had already booked our December holiday to Goa in April this year, and paid for the option of being able to reserve our seats, however, yesterday we decided to upgrade to Premium. I cannot see on the websites or on our amended booking whether we can reserve our seats either now or two months before we go. Am I correct in assuming that reserving your seat does not apply to Premium?

Sydney,

The same applies with premium except it is included in your premium upgrade, you should have had this deducted off your upgrade price, check you revised invoice. If not get onto Thomson to arrange the refund.

Thank you very much BY-TOM-AMM-FCA. Your quick response is very much appreciated.

We had also paid for an increase in luggage allowance (20 kgs), do you think that we will be able to get a refund for that?

I've never come across that question before, best check with customer services/your travel agent but as a customer of Thomson too, I would have to assume it would be dealt the same.

I've recently booked a package deal (first time in a long time) and am only allowed 5kg of hand luggage which is not a problem for me, but how do people go on who purchase duty free? I assume anyone purchasing duty free that has to be within the 5kg allowance. I can't see anything in relation to this on the Thomson website, but just interested to know.

Your duty free is in addition to your hand luggage!

If anybody has a flight / holiday booked on a Thomson flight departing from Edinburgh during the Winter season of 2011 / 2012 please note that Thomson will not be flying to Sharm during the winter now.

You will be offered a change of date and flight from Glasgow or another airport, we have just had our flight moved to Glasgow on a different date.

I assume that's directed at the Monarch flight? It's a 2 hour turnaround as it's a much larger aircraft, 360 passengers compared to 187 on TOM's 73H so taes a lot longer to turn around. There are a variaety of aircraft used to Egypt, varying between time of year, day and departure / destination airport.

There isn't a flight immediately before yours as it's the first of the day for that aircraft. It arrives in the early hours then has some downtime.

Hi, we are flying from East Midlands to Faro TOM 7402. I am guessing it will be a 737-800 as it only has 32 seating rows. Am I right?

That's correct.

essexyid,

It's only an odd flight where an aircraft has needed to be substituted at the last moment due to a technical problem. The vast majority of flights run as scheduled so I wouldn't sorry. It's a case of delaying the flight for a few hours or upwards of a day, depending on the nature of the problem and therefore delaying passengers, and subsequant passengers resulting in losing part of the holiday, or getting you away with only a minor delay but on a short haul configured aircraft. Having been subject to a 52 hour delay a few years ago (not with Thomson Airways), I know what I'd choose! Your flights are operated by a former First Choice Boeing 767-300/ER. You'll find extensive aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below). There isn't a specific registration allocated to your flight, the fleet is rotated weekly so I won't know until the day before. It makes little difference anyway as all but 1 are the same inside.
