The hotel is in Cala Egos which is a way out of Cala D'or. Cala Egos itself is small but does have a selection of restaurants. We stayed in a villa here and ate out quite a few times but I'm sorry I can't remember actual names.

We also for a change walked down to the marina in Cala D'Or and that was a pleasant 20 minute walk. There's quite a few restaurants there with lovely views of the marina but they are more expensive.

It's a lovely resort, I'm sure you'll have a great time.

I'm going to Marina Skorpios in August with my wife and kids (9&6).
Does anybody have any tips or advice for me.
It's our first time to Majorca.
We went to Menorca 2 years ago and enjoyed that.
Somebody in the reviews section mentions that they emailed the holiday prior to flying out to book a high floor room with a sea-view.
Is this worth doing?
Any advice will be very welcome.

It was me that posted the review and mentioned that I emailed the hotel before the holiday to ask for a sea view.

It is worth doing it, but when we were there in May the hotel was not full. Obviously in August it will be busier, so you may not get your request, but I think it is worth a try. I think I mentioned that there was a bit of a smell at the back of the hotel!

I notice you have children, they will be kepy very busy and will enjoy the unlimited icecreams and cisps!

I don't think you will be disappointed with your choice of hotel, we were more than happy.

Just returned from a great time (again) at the Marina Rey Don Jaime and looking to book the Marina Skorpios for next year but cant find it in 2006 online brochures / package searches (First Choice seem to be this years package option) - any idea when we can look ?

We will probably book direct with the Marina Call Center but I want to know that its still going to be an 'English' hotel and not going over to other European countries sole use before we do it.

We take one of our young grandsons and he enjoys mixing with other English kids hence the english requirement - we have nothing against our european friends !

We have booked for the Marina Pax through Barrhead Tavel and found them to be cheaper than the hotel direct and also cheaper than WSH or Alpharooms. This link will give you a guide of prices for 2005/2006 for all the Marina hotels so you can compare.

Just received an email from First Choice saying that the Marina Skorpios will not be featuring in their future brochures (ie commencing 2006).

We are going here In 10 days time & cant wait.

I cant believe that first choice are dropping this hotel as It gets rave reviews from this board.

Well, we got back from the Skorpios at the weekend.
We had a great holiday.
To try to answer some of the questions on here:-
It looked to me as though all rooms have a balcony, although some are at the front of the hotel looking toward the hotel opposite. I emailed the hotel in advance of going requesting a high floor with sea view. I didn't recieve a reply, but we did get a room on the top floor with a great view of the cove and sea, it was lovely. I definately recommend you drop them a line.
When we arrived, the kids were given wristbands for free which entitled them to get free ice creams, ice lollies, crisps, pop, water etc from the hotel bar between 10am & 10 pm. This saved a lot of money. I think the kids have to be 12 and under to qualify.
Their is a second swimming pool, it is next to the sister hotel, which shares facilities.
I was told by somebody there that next year the hotel will not be featured in First Choice brochures as it will be hosting German clients and not British
If anybody is going this year, I'm sure you will have a great time, we sure did

Our coach transfer from Palma airport took just over an hour, and we dropped off at 3 hotels in Cala D'Or before we arrived. That was at about 10pm.

I can't find the hotel on the Thomas Cook website for next year and have emailed Tom Cook for clarification.

ps if you book direct with their call centre and have previously signed up for the free 'Marina Fidelity' card the first child stays free in their non AI hotels (the child has to stay in the same room as the adults)
