Shirley....we're talking about two very different things here.
Shacks - restaurants built usually on the beach providing food, drinks etc served either at your sunbed or on a table sitting in comfortable chairs with your feet in the cool sand (Wow, I'm almost there now)
Beach Huts - Usually a small selection of temporary huts but can be there all year around. Found only in the far northern beaches or in the south. None in Candolim, Calangute or Baga (Think that's right). You pay by the night usually anything from 1500rps to 6500rps per hut. At peak times, they only take block bookings rather than one-night stays.
