Both hotels are cut off from Puerto del Carmen really, though obviously the Jameos is further out! From a location point of view I would choose Los Jameos. It is right there on the sea front, there are bus stops right outside the door going in both directions, and a good range of restaurants, bars and some shops right there too. I don't have any knowledge of the actual hotels though.

los jamos is a gorgeous hotel-we met up with friends who were staying there last march, and spent most our days around their pool. The food they said was gorgeous, you could eat out on the terrace, the rooms were fab- all the staff extremely pleasant- It really was a beautiful hotel- and is situated in los pocillos - which is a lovely area.

Forgot to mention- it will take about 20-30 minutes walk to puerto del carmen- or 4E in a taxi- personally I prefer the area where los jamos is situated- away from all the hussle and bussle- I do prefer more "Lively" on an evening- so we use to walk down the road- and get a taxi back! Best of both worlds!

Where the los jamos is situated- there is a strip of bars and restaurants (Within a minute of stepping out of hotel)- you can also walk the other way to matagora (15 Mins)- where there is a commercial centre with numerous bars, and the best chinese we have ever had!!

Sorry to say, Belly, that the commercial centre towards Matagorda isn't that busy at the moment :(

That doesn't surprise me sue- its not over busy when we go- every march-(Matagora commercial centre), but its not totally dead either! It made a nice change- if we fancied a "Quiet evening". I suspect it would be much busier in the summer months.

I absolutely love los pocillos/matagora area- but do like to spend most evenings in puerto del carmen.- Best of both worlds!

Roll on March.

Hi have not stayed in either of those hotels, but we always stay in the pocillos area on a side road just up from the Antonio. We like that area but for the evenings we always walk into del Carmen as we have a few fave places we always go to.

We go end of Feb each year and although not bustling it has enough peeps to make it feel ok.

We have walked back as well but have also got a taxi back some nights! It takes us around 45 mins stroll but its quite pleasant.

Day time we also walk the promenade so quite a bit of walking we do overall, but as I said its quite nice really and can always flag a taxi down if you have enough half way!! We have walked from our bungalow in las Pocillos to the old town, walking along the front - in the day this is, just stopping now and then to go in and have a coffee or beer. :D

Like Belly we love the pocillos area but like del Carmen for nights out. :tup
