Flight Only / Airline and Airports

paradiselover,

They are codeshare flights on that route. I posted my trip reports at the end of the What Aircraft? guide (link below) when I flew that route a few years ago. Air Mauritius and Air France both operate flights, but they are airline partners so even though you have booked with one, the flight may be operated by the other. It can be confusing so you need to check the flight details carefull as they might not be as they first seem, but personally, I'd fly on the Air Mauritius codeshare flight as I much prefer them over Air France on the Indian Ocean routes. Having said hat, they now operate Boeing 777-300/ER rather than the aging Boeing 747-400 so it's probably more comparable now.

Thanks for your reply,

I have just read your reviews on your Air France/Air Mauritius flights, which I found to be very informative and very much enjoyed reading them. I think you must have been unfortunate with the crew on your return flight they were obviously concentrating on other things. I have flown to JFK with Air France and in my experience I found them to be very attentive.

I have picked that flight as I too thought it was the more direct flight. Reading between the lines am I right to assume that there is not a lot of difference between them, I don't want to pay an extra premium to fly Air France, which I assumed was the better of the two, if I cannot guarantee that I will be on an Air France aircraft. Also some of the flights to CDG are with Flybe is that connected to Air France?

I noticed you went on the 7th September to Mauritius, what was the weather like some reviews say it is cold on a night.

Thanks for your help,

Anne

paradiselover,

If it's cheaper to fly with Air Mauritius, assuming that's the airline and not a codeshare flight with Air France, I would no question fly with Air Mauritius as I prefered their service (and beer, Phoenix is rather nice!). Things have changed slightly since I flew over their with Air France as they've changed aircraft from the Indion Ocean configured 747's to newer 777's so there's not so much of a difference now. Flybe and Air France also have a codeshare between MAN and CDG. It's only a short hop so doesn't make much difference really. The flights you mentioned above are all Air France Flights. If you let me have the flight numbers you're looking at booking, I'll let you know the aircraft / airline for them.

September is spring time in Mauritius. Apart from an odd shower that only lasted a few minutes before the sun came back out, temperatures were late 20's through the day and early 20's in the evening. I certainly wouldn't describe it as cold, it was short sleeved shirts.
