Many years ago when youngest son was about 5 he was in the car one day and said to his dad
'Dad...what's a gherkin?'

'Well....it's like a small pickled cucumber..like a pickled onion! They're sold in jars and pickled in vinegar. You can also buy them in the fish and chip shop etc '

'Oh...' he thought for a bit...then started singing....
