I hope Michael stays in- he was hilarious :rofl
Lisa- another good performance. Sid- I think he got a bit distracted for some reason tonight

I want Louis Smith to win, he seems a genuine lovely lad and has the flexibility, loved watching team GB gymnastics.
Gerry Hall can't dance for toffee, all she can do is flick her hair around and pose.
Vic did better this week, I absolutely loved her mauve dress.

Yes she was born to do that kind of dance, brilliant. Thinking about your other post made me more aware of Darcy, I've decided I quite like her after all, it's not her fault she has that voice I'm sort of warming to her and she does make valid comments, plus seems to have a sense of humor. There are some great celebs this year really funny dance styles, loved Sid last night the way he went for it. :rofl

Excuse me, since when has describing someone who is fat, and who has voluntarily put herself in the public eye and on my TV, personal, rude and offensive?
She is fat. She would dance a lot better if she wasn’t carrying all that fat. Her obesity restricts her dancing. Her obesity makes the ball gowns look like tents…all are fact!

The day the word fat is removed from the English dictionary, is the day I will stop using it.
Saying all that, I also believe very strongly that if Ms Riley wants to scoff herself into an early grave, it's entirely up to her. But by the same token, I also believe that it is entirely up to me to find her offensive if she chooses to put herself on my TV and up for public criticism. Nothing is going to change that.

So with that, I will say cha cha cha.

This is NOT up for debate however I will make it quite clear it was much more than just calling her fat in your comment thus it was removed, no excuse - END OF.

If anybody wishes to continue this topic in a friendly & constructive manner please do so.

Denise is bound to be good. I noted one of the judges said it was like watching professionals- but she is a professional. I just think its a bit unfair.

I bet James Jordan was pleased to be described as professional !!! :D I think the jive did suit her personality though and yes she is a professional performer but not a professionally trained dancer and I think the judges will place high expectations on her , she will have to work harder to get an " 8 " than some others .
I liked most of the performances , I thought Sid did well , nice to see his personality and smile , being totally the opposite of his miserable , aggressive and thick character of Ricky , he looks like he's having a good time with Ola !!
I like the energy and enthusiasm from Lisa , ok she's not as easy on the eye as DVO or Kimberly , but she's going for it with effort . Louis seems to be the best male celeb , he certainly has the right physique to look good on the dance floor and will train hard too , but he reminds me a bit of Ricky Whittle a few years ago who was a very good dancer but didn't really get his personality over to the viewers , Louis has already got comments that he needs to get an on screen chemistry with Flavia , if he can I think he will win .
I thought Johnny Ball did well , he was voted out by the judges on the basis that his waltz had less content than Richards cha cha cha , bit unfair really , Richard should have gone for that hair and shirt alone ;)

Loved the professional dance at the beginning if last nights show. I think the right two ended up in the dance off. Glad to see the dance off back so that's it's more about dancing and less about popularity.

I think that the Sylvia Young Theatre School would be extremely unhappy to think that any graduate of their musical theatre education wasn't a professionally trained dancer! And I'm sure that all those people who paid London theatre prices to see her sing and dance the role of Roxie Hart in Chicago in the West End weren't sitting there thinking 'What an amateur!' If she's not a professionally trained dancer and a professional performer who has earned her living dancing on the stage, then I'm not sure who is. Yes, she isn't a professional ballroom dancer like the professional dance teachers on Strictly but she has a huge advantage over the likes of Michael Vaughan - she is a trained dancer.

And while I'm on about Michael Vaughan - how on earth did he escape the dance off? He was definitely worse than the two who were. Yes, I found his jive hugely entertaining - funniest routine of the night - but only because it was so truly awful. It would make a great 'How not to dance the jive' video for dance teachers everywhere. He managed to even make John Sergeant look good in comparison - at least John could dance in time to the music :rofl

She has earned most of her living from being a presenter , actress and singer , she hasn't danced ballroom to make a living , unless they are going to do an re- enactment of Chicago during a strictly dance I don't see her experience as being anymore unfair than pitting a 24 yr old Olympian against a 74 yr old tv presenter .
She attended the theatre school like many other actors , actresses and tv stars have , previous contestants on strictly such as Emma Bunton, Kara Tointon, Louisa Lytton , and Matt Di Angelo all went to the same theatre school so they were professional trained dancers too ? Only Kara managed to win !

The judges give their professional and technical views and scores , the viewing public then can vote for their favourite which can take into consideration age, effort , entertainment value , personality , sympathy etc which makes it a more level playing field , just because you appeared in a musical over ten years ago or did some nice moves in a boyband/ girlband doesn't mean you're a dead cert to beat someone who can throw a cricket ball better than me or you or ride a bike very fast .
It's more than likely that celebs from an acting / singing background are going to look more competent and confident than sports heroes at dancing , but then this show has had Chris Hollins, Darren Gough, and Natasha Kaplinsky as winners who as far as I'm aware didn't go to Sylvia's School. Oh I forgot , Mark Ramprakash , he was ok at cricket , so there's hope for Mr Vaughan yet ;)

unfortunately we have the dance off and I'm not sure the judges will take previous experience into consideration. I don't want Denise to win. IF I voted it would probably be for Michael, who cant dance but fair gives it laldy :D Very entertaining. But then there is no point in voting because the judges decide.

Unlike X factor where the judges are told or they can't be bothered and go to deadlock ;) :D

I'd rather they just let the lowest voted act go , what's the point of seeing the worst two dances all over again ?

Guess I must be alone in being glad to see the dance off back! It at least means that the worst of the two bottom dancers goes each week. The pity is that, as with last night, it's not always the two worst dancers in the dance off but the two dancers the viewers like least. In the end it's a popularity contest won by the couple the viewers warm to, not a dance competition decided on the basis of skill.

And if James has any sense we'll definitely see a 'Cabaret' inspired routine for the show dance if not before! Fosse's distinctive style of choreography is notoriously hard to get right but Denise has obviously mastered it having held the role down on the stage for so long and been drilled in it by an expert. It will impress the judges and ensure that she goes into the viewers vote towards the top of the table.

I see strictly is continuing to beat X Failure with more viewers every week, stopped watching x failure several weeks ago when the dithering Louis Walsh was seen to fix the results.

C'mon Richard & Erin in the dance off

I know that Richard was much better in the dance off, but still very sorry to see Colin Salmon go out. There aren`t many truly elegant and charming men in the world, but he`s one of them.
