I think that making the case that you only booked this holiday because of the information that you were given about the gender mix of your fellow travellers is going to be difficult to make stand up. Most companies specialising in single holidays do say that they try to ensure that there is a good balance but they really have no control over this and do not guarantee it. In the end, they are never going to turn down bookings from the 'wrong' gender. I've never been on this sort of holiday but perhaps the women cancelled because they didn't like the idea of the 2 to 1 ratio of women to men? Having people chop and change their mind about whether they want to book or not and/or cancel their booking on the basis of who else is travelling and trying to accommodate that is never going to make for a viable business plan for any TO.

Having recently returned from my first single holiday in Malta I was totally let down by Solitair Holidays,
Firstly there was no representative at all for our group of four, we were lucky enough to meet in the hotel foyer otherwise I don't really know what would have happened. So no welcome meeting or contact.
WE had tickets for the tours left at the hotel reception and we queried this with tour provider and she kindly came along and gave us some guidance. I don't think we could have managed on our own without that.
We then discovered the night before we left that three of us who were travelling back to Manchester had been booked on the wrong date home by the firm and there was no tickets left for the correct date,
We had to pay for a ticket to Gatwick and then travel costs back up to our homes. We have been reimbursed for these costs after telephone calls and e mails to the firm.
Given that this was my first Solo holiday it is not the kind of firm you would have confidence in to assist you.

It sounds like a bit of a disaster, I would not let it deter you from booking solo again, I have tried solo a few times in the last couple of years and the ability to just use your own time is fantastic.

I booked with Saga and also Sandals - I would not let this experience put you off..
