I know what happened in Sandy Hook was shocking, but is the answer to arm teachers? Is this is a step too far? Wouldn't it lead to more killings, not less?

I have visited lots of friends in the USA. Not one of them owns a gun.
The whole gun thing scares the poop out of me tbh. It's bad enough here with knives etc.....{{{{shudder}}}
I started a thread on an American teachers' website to see what their view was. Some of the replies were surprising.
The link requires a log in in order to see it.
Anyhow the debate on there got quite heated with mant US teachers saying they do not want guns in school but a very vocal group who were ready to line up for training so tha they could take their guns in! Given our experiences in Iraq with freindly fire how long do you reckon it would take for a teacher to shoot a colleague or kid?
