SInce I will be going to Lanzarote in April please write down an update on what happend. Did you get any compensation for the hassle?

No compensation payable for weather related problems. It is up to the airline to feed you and find you somewhere to stay if appropriate.

Being as the delays and diversions were caused by two storms, it's highly unlikely to be repeated again in April!

I am making an insurance claim which is about £190 in hotel, taxi, ferry and meal expenses. I realise it is a long shot in this being successful but if this does not work I will try with Jet2. This is what the travel agent advised to do. Jet2 will obviously say they made arrangements for passengers after the delay. With over 800 passengers stranded I would not be surprised if many had to stay in the aiport overnight. I was simply not prepared to do that. We will see what happens, I am not expecting any success so anything will be a bonus.

If you had travel disruption cover, independent traveller or whatever your insurance company calls it you may be lucky, but they might argue that had you stayed the airline would have had to look after you, and they won't pay for costs that are recoverable from elsewhere. If you've no DIY insurance I think you'll be out of luck. As you chose to walk away and didn't wait around to see what Jet2 were offering, I doubt the airline reimburse you - but you never know!
