Dominican Republic - Birthday ideas/trip suggestions?

Hi all,

I have just booked my first holiday to the Caribbean - Dominican Republic - departing end of May for 2 weeks!

It is my boyfriends birthday while we are there and I would like any ideas or suggestions on perhaps where I could take him either for a lovely surprise meal or a trip to remember?

We are staying in Bavaro, any suggestions would be very warmly welcomed!

What about a helicopter tour of the resort? They use Robinson R-44 helicopters to whiz you around at 300ft at 115kn for some stunning views of the coastline. It's not too expensive either. Photos here.

I second Darren's suggestion - we had a 30 minute heli ride when we went to Punta Cana in 2008 - it was EPIC!!! :tup

don't take him deep sea fishing I did this and we were out 6 hours trolling and did not have a bite!!!!! im sure they have no fish there ?? what a waste of £200

I've logged about 40 dives in different parts of the Dom Rep, 10 aound Bavaro and while there are plenty of fish, there's not a lot to catch inshore trolling. Barracuda were few and far between and if you're not in the sailfish season, you're just going for a boat ride!
