does anyone know how much it cost to change name on holiday? and when is the latest you can change a name ? thanks

ive tried with the live chat, they said they couldnt help me as they cannot acess directholiday reference numbers, only thomas cook, so looks like i will have to spend fortune phoning direct holidays. Thanks anyway.

sorry i cant advise, but if you need to phone you might find an alternative number here http://www.saynoto0870.com/ rather than pay for premium number charges

For a package holiday they are the same as Thomas Cooks as far as I know. Name changes can be done anytime up to the day of departure for £50. If they're done on the day of departure, where permitted. they incur extra charges. You should have a copy of their booking conditions, or at least a link to them on your emails.

£75 i had to do it, we booked a villa and flight separate. One of our friends pulled out, and we replaced, rang Monarch up and it was £75 to change names. That was two weeks ago.

The OP isn't flying with Monarch. Change fees are different on package holidays and flight only. Flight only the airline sets the charges, and they all vary from airline to airline, depending on the fare rules of the ticket. With package holidays via the large tour operators, the tour operator sets them, irrespective of airline.

Am I correct in thinking that the lead name cannot be changed without the booking being cancelled and rebooked with the correct names ? If so how much would that cost ?

It depends on what you've booked. If it's a package holiday you can usually just change the lead name by visiting the travel agent, or ringing the tour operator if you've booked direct. The charge depends on who you've booked with.
