Travellers cheques seem to be a dyeing breed if you don't have a bank card with free withdrawals then many people now get one of the many available cards which you pre load with the given currency [euro in this case] which you can then withdraw from any ATM, you can also use them for purchasing but be aware in Cyprus there is a charge levied on all cards at point of purchase to cover local banking charges
