On a recent trip to Bangkok, I was advised that the airline had changed its schedule and Travel Up gave me 2 alternative flights with the same airline. One was a day before we were due to fly home and the other was 2 days after we were due to fly home. Neither suited and I was not offered an alternative service with aniother airline (even for a fee that I may have been willing to pay). I recognise the fact that the Travel Agent has no control over the airline changing its schedule.
So this is the bit I was disgusted with. I selected the return flight on the day prior to the original date (Option one). I emailed this request to Travelup. I received an email telling me they would be sending me an email confirmation of the change. This email never arrived. This meant I had to travel from my hotel to Bangkok, a 3 hour car journey, not knowing if I had a flight to catch. One email of confirmation that I was on the flight would have resolved everything. It never came.
They made a promise they didnt keep and left me in an uncertain situation in a foreign city. I have tried to contact them on my return - by email on 3rd November 2013, but despite receiving an email from them acknowledging my email and reassuring me I would recieve a reply within 48 hours. Nothing.
My advice - book with someone else - because if something goes wrong, they dont help you.
Sorry to hear of your problem, I too would have been really anxious if I hadn't heard anything back from them. It must have been a big relief when you were able to check in.
