Following on from my earlier post re New York in December, I've now seen a similar cruise which would give us 3 nights in New York in January. Hubby likes it because it's one day less in NY which means the overall cost of cruise and stay is cheaper, plus he says that I won't be able to spend as much (who is he kidding ).
I quite like the idea as it would and should mean that restaurants will not be as busy or as expensive as they would be over the holiday period and although the best of the sales stuff will have been picked over, I'm sure I'll still be able to pick up some bargains.
However, once again the question of the weather comes into being. Will it be as cold or even colder than in December?
I did answer your earlier post. I would think the weather would be about the same, very cold. But you can never be certain. Where I live in Germany we normally have temperatures of up to minus 20c in winter but this year has been extremely mild and we've been basking in sunny springlike days for much of the winter. But I would say on average New York in January will be very cold.
I think we may well be leaning more towards the January cruise, based on my original post, but also it's on the Queen Elizabeth which we haven't been on before. We've sailed on the QM2 and although I suspect there won't be a great deal of difference, it's nice to try another ship.
Now just to completely convince hubby that this is the break he really really wants!!!!!
