Hi,
Its a pretty simple question but just dont know if we can do it. We originally booked a package holiday with Thomson, just a self catering in Turkey. In the meantime we've been asked by friends to join them at a villa they're renting at the same time.
Can we use the flights part of our package and just make our own way to the villa. Is their anything wrong with what we are thinking of doing.
I'm thinking of telling the reps when we arrive in Dalaman airport so that they're not waiting on the coach and hotel for us to arrive, but didnt know whether to give Thomsons a call before hand to let them know. What would be best?
I would love to know if this is possible, whether anybody has experience of this and whether we are doing anything wrong.

If you told the reps you were making your own way ( taxi ) would they know any different ?
I think it's polite to advise the rep that you won't be travelling by coach so they don't wait around for you , even tell them you've had a last minute call from a friend to visit their villa instead if you want to .
I've actually booked a package ( upcoming ) and have no intention of stepping foot inside the accommodation , at a cost of £12 per night for the room , I'm not even inclined to see it !!!! But the " package " cost me less than the flight only option . Is it wrong ? I think it's common practice .
That's great to know Andy. Hoped I wasn't the only one doing this. Just seemed a bit wrong and was pulling on my conscience but I will try and tell the reps at the airport.
I've done this to Corfu. The flight was dearer than the cheapest package holiday, so I booked the holiday and went to a different hotel which I had booked on booking.com.

One point I did miss , was that has your friend who has booked the villa notified the owners there are extra people staying ? In my experience I book villas with 2 to 3 rooms and can sleep / cater for more than just the two of us , if we wish to use the villa for more people there is a small extra amount to pay and we usually have to add their names to the booking form , for peace of mind it would be a good idea to check up .

Yes, we've had to pay a 5 euro each breakage waiver to stay there, so that side of it is sorted. Many thanks for your help on this, really appreciate it.
I never thought to look before, but I've logged into Thomsons booking page and there's an option for removing the transfers from your holiday, so it's all sorted. I'll just email the hotel now so that they can sell the room again and make a bit more money out of it.
