Do you sometimes go into the sea for a swim and leave any valuables behind? Maybe think that there are so many others around that no-one would chance stealing anything? I have to say that I don't even leave my sandals at the water's edge for fear they may not be there when I get back!
Of course nowadays there is more of a temptation for thieves as we carry around with us a lot more expensive things eg mobiles, kindles, tablets. So what do you do to keep things safe?
Leave them in the safe and only take enough money for a drink maybe and the safe key and that is tied to my trunks/shorts belt
I don't take valuables onto the beach. My watch is worth about £2 at most. I only take enough money to buy a beer or ice cream. I don't take my wallet or credit cards. My sunglasses come from the 99p shop. The most valuable items with me would probably be the kids' buckets and spades that are Smoby.
No cards etc.
normally one of us stays with the beds and things except when we both go for a drink/snack, then we leave the bags on the bed and keep a watch on them or take them with us. A lot depends on which country we are in.
and then someone nicks your towel and you can't find the safe
This one looks good :-
I think I will still use the safe in the hotel room, and relax
If we are on a beach then only one of us goes in the water at a time. We minimise what we take - the room key, safe key (if its not a digital combination one), a cheap watch, cheap music players and enough money for food/emergencies (no more than ~£40) plus maybe a camera and occasionally a Kindle
http://www.robertdyas.co.uk/heavy-duty-garden-cart ) because with two sons, two daughters in law and 2 grand daughters we shall be transporting shed loads of stuff! It is already broken down ready to fit in the boot, just need to make sure I take a spanner with me.
I really admire those continental types who walk down to the beach with one of those rolled up raffia type mats and one of those plastic waterproof tube things round their necks with a few banknotes in and that's them set up for the day. When my family goes to the beach it is an outing. This year we are taking a wheeled garden trolley with us (
Hi de hi,how do you get that on the plane, i am sure it to big for hand luggage!
It would be good on the plane! Taking the car to Spain this year!
We usually have phones , kindles and iPods and enough cash for the day. Depends on the beach we are on really , Skala Kefalonia was quiet and the people around us were all from our little hotel so we did on occasion go in the sea at the same time . I don't really go for busy beaches with rows and rows of beds.
hi de hi
