Well we are back from our 18 nights stay in Corralejo.
We've been before so didn't do as much travelling around as we would normally do on holiday. Instead, to be honest, we didn't do a lot 😵
We would have a stroll down to the harbour or the sea front, nosing in the shops on the way, about midday. We'd stop for a spot of lunch over looking the sea in one of the many little cafes or restaurants. Usually something light omlettes & salad or a toastie, with a drink of course 😁
Then, after another meander & a few sits on the seats overlooking the sea we'd make our way back to our apartment, for the welcoming air conditioning.
Weather-wise we had a mixed bag. On arriving on the island it was cloudy & remained so for the first few days. This didn't bother us too much as it was very warm & we aren't ones for sunbathing. We did feel sorry for the sun worshippers though who'd come for a good laze with their books.
Then the clouds blew away & there was the blue skies & roaring temperatures. Fuerteventura is known for its welcoming breeze, it takes the heat off & keeps the air fresh, but if that breeze drops then you certainly feel the difference. 🌞 4.30pm & it was 36 degrees one day we spotted. Probably the day it was reported to be over 40deg....
Prices are very reasonable. Bacon, eggs, bread etc roughly €1, lager in bars anywhere from €1 to €3 in restaurants. Cigs around €28 for200, baccy was €3 for 500gm pouch. Fillet steak meal €15, Spag Bol €6.50.
We were self catering & would sometimes have brekky out. It was €8.50 for one large & one small breakfast with fresh orange juice or tea/coffee 👍
We had a car (petrol under a € per litre) & had a few trips out into the centre of the Island via the mountains. Roads are excellent, quiet & well maintained.
I took my hand luggage only & still came back not wearing everything I took (we did have an excellent washing machine though with a 14min cycle). Hubby, however, came back with more than he took having purchased himself 2 Blanc De Nul tops & a pair of shorts. I, did get 2 beautiful bracelets 😁
Flights both ways with Ryanair were fine although they are sticking to their new "thing" of putting anyone who doesn't reserve a seat in the middle of the rows. Both outbound & return someone was split up from their partner & both placed in middle seats.
Ryanair are saying this is because the most popular seats for bookings are aisle & window. Therefore they are leaving those free to be booked by the last minute buyers, hence, no purchase seat, you run the risk now of being separated & with middle seats.

Ryanair were investigated by BBC watchdog and test bookings were made to see how they were randomly allocated. Statasticians showed that the odds of the separate middle seat allocations made were greater than lottery odds of 50 million to 1.

In our travel agency businesses EVERY SINGLE booking they are doing where there is a Ryanair flight and two people are travelling, Ryanairy are splitting the people up. EVERY SINGLE time.
It cost us £16 each to reserve our preferred seats (me aisle, hubby window) with priority boarding. I don't mind paying that at all.
The full cost, including seats, priority boarding & 2 return flights was £258.
Of the 2 people who were seated in the middle, neither seemed to mind they just wanted to keep their costs down.

The costs are surprisingly cheap ( day to day costs I mean).

honestly they really haven't , passengers who don't select payment for seating will be randomly seated , and there used to be the likelihood that you might end up in seats next to each other , but now it appears that random seating will always be a middle seat and in different rows , I don't know why Ryanair just don't admit that if you don't purchase seating they will proactively seat you apart in an " undesirable " middle seat , I don't particularly have a problem with that policy , because you can then decide whether to pay extra for a seat and people that do pay will most likely be able to sit together . Glynis , those cost of living examples are very similar to Lanzarote , really good value , car hire and fuel are very good prices
