But security does need to be tightened in this day and age unfortunately.
I have a feeling it won't be as bad as that report. They do need our money.
And wouldn't be having that anyway as we are not a Schengen county anyway.

Even when travelling back from airports further afield than Europe I've never had long waits so why does this present a problem for airports in the EU area ? How do airports in the EU cope at the moment when travellers who are non schengen exit ? It hasn't been a problem so far and it appears that total passenger numbers are not suddenly increasing in departing from EU airports , if extra security checks are the real cause for extended waiting then more staff need to be employed and that also applies to UK airports too . Airports rely on a smooth stream of passenger movement to operate efficiently and all areas need correct staffing levels to enable a smooth and steady flow , if more security checks are needed then they need to be staffed correctly whether it checking schengen passengers , visa exempt third country nationals , UK travellers pre and post brexit .
