Thomson will this week begin the process of changing the name of more than 600 of its stores to TUI.
It also launched a new TV ad during ITV's flagship X Factor programme to herald the name change.
The advert shows a man diving into water with the simple message: 'Thomson is changing to TUI.'
The company said that the 20-second ad was 'at the heart of a wide scale communications offensive that will cement the name TUI in the minds of the British public'.
The company announced in December 2016 that its summer 2017 marketing campaign 'moments' would be the last under the Thomson brand name, paving the way for a full re-brand by the end of the year.
Jeremy Ellis, marketing director at TUI UK and Ireland, said: "The foundations for our re-brand are firmly in place and we are primed ready to become TUI.
"We want to ensure our customers are ready to take this exciting journey with us so it's really important that we communicate the transition clearly."
He said the campaign has been ongoing since May, reaching five million customers, and a special issue of its Discovery magazine has been sent to 1.5 million people.
"Customers are already used to seeing the TUI smile logo as it has been an integral part of Thomson branding for some time," added Ellis. "TUI has also been visible in our overseas resorts for three years and on our airline livery this summer."

What "exciting journey" are they talking about I wonder? Most people are already aware that Thomson and TUI are the same company and don't give a toss what they call themselves, as long aa they can be trusted to provide the holidays which potential customers want at prices which seem to be good value. I really don't think it will increase their business. On the other hand, their recent idea of getting overseas call centres to make unsolicited calls to people who have booked their holidays in an attempt to sell them "extras" is, I fear, likely to have a very bad effect on the business. 😈
I wonder how long it will take before folk stop referring to them as Thomson's 😁
Thomsons has been a brand name for 50 years , it's well known and rolls of the tongue unlike Too - ey or Chewy and the logo is just ???
I guess the signage and brand change have cost money , and who will be paying for that I wonder !!!
OMG. Peanuts and chocolate, a mix made in heaven. Reeses peanut butter cups are something I absolutely pig out on when visiting the UK and now they make them with a dark chocolate shell they are even better. Wish they were on sale over here, but maybe I don't as my waistline would soon start to show the results.
Goodness Sanji I remember the Britannia Airlines, and flew with them many days.
Thamks Sanji, I wondered what TUI stood for. It doesn't sound very British I must say.
That photo of the Britannia plane and crew took me back to the "old days"........remember Dan-Air ?(or Dan Dare as we affectionately called them!!)

Dan Air were one of the first to have female pilots (I believe??) - the silence that greeted the pilot's announcements.......and the shock when an attractive lady with an Afro came out of the cockpit ! Alcohol sales shot up!!
My very first flight was on Monarch to Girona airport , I'm sure my first long haul was on DC10 , think it was BCal , as well as smoking being allowed on board ( at the back ) the IFE was just ceiling mounted screens with everyone having to watch the same film / programme with the laughs and groans happening at the same time .
Regarding the Tui logo I can see the 3 letters are incorporated but ends up looking like a one eyed , wonky smile , I did Google logos and there a quite a few very clever ones with hidden meanings , I thought the Toyota one was interesting as all the letters are actually in the logo without it looking obvious , also Fed ex has an arrow in the letters to indicate forward movement .
@Andy66 - I flew with Astraeus and Bruce Dickinson too; flight was to Taba in Egypt ~ 2006 ish with Longwood holidays.. Sadly airline went bust in 2011, and holiday company a couple of years later.
There was a plane that was decked out in full Iron Maiden livery which they used to do their World Tour .
I wonder how much did this cost to make?

I can assure you that they were very expensive. These ads are just part of the rebrand from Thomson/FirstChoice. Youngest directed a rebrand in the USA last year of a similar size which cost in excess of $1.5 million. Could have lot of holidays for that .
