Newcastle Airport's Australian owners AMP Capital have bought Leeds Bradford airport in a deal that is understood to be worth £220 million.
AMP, which also has stakes in Melbourne and Port Hedland International airports, has bought Leeds Bradford from private equity house Bridgepoint.
According to a report in The Telegraph, the price paid by AMP includes the company's debt.
Aer Lingus, Eastern Airways, Flybe, Jet2 and Ryanair all operate flights from Leeds Bradford.
AMP's head of origination, Europe, Simon Ellis said the Yorkshire and Humber region was one of the fastest-growing in the UK, with a population growth of 6% since 2001. As a result, it said there was potential for further route development.
During the past five years, passenger numbers have risen almost 40%.

These are both my local Airports as we live roughly half way between the two. I never knew Newcastle airport was owned by an Australian company & now Leeds as well.
Did you know that when Leeds Bradford airport was developed back in the 60s that the view of the runway from the control tower was obstructed. This went unoticed until it was completed.
No FWH I didn't am glad they spotted their error though 😉😁
