I look at mid-week breaks now and have found 2 bedroom chalets for £85 total. Not saying where as I don't want them all booked up when I want to go. :):)

If we do want a longer break and elswhere, I look for a hotel for the weekend and another 4 day break from the Monday. The main problem with this method is you have to travel on a Friday and I hate it.
