You lucky one - I envy you!!. I have stayed at Les Citroniers many times - its such a lovely hotel with great staff. Its basic but very clean. No fridges in the rooms but lots of local shops sell cold drinks (in big fridges like here).
Breakfast is basic but you can also order toast (free) then a cooked breakfast for a few pence depending on what you want.
The food served at lunch and dinner is excellent (3 course with choice from a set menu at dinner is about £4.00) or the a'la carte is also very good. There are restaurants along the same road - but havent eaten in them as the food at the hotel was so good. There is a small place called El Dorado's at the end of the road (out of the hotel and turn right) very good coffee and pancakes and sandwiches - again really cheap. The hotel is a family run business - 3 brothers and their nephew and they are all nice people who will do anything for you. Any more info - just ask.

Have just booked a holiday for the above hotel for the 9th April. I know the hotel is basic but would like to know what is available in the room i.e. tea making facilities etc. Also anyone got any idea on the weather? Do you need a Visa or just your Passport?

I have just received my tickets as i fly out on the 13th
March and according to the information given, you will only need a passport if it is a package holiday you are taking. Have a good holiday, and don't forget to post your adventures when you get back

None of the Tunisian hotels I've stayed in has ever had any tea making facilities in the rooms. I usually take a travel kettle and some tea bags and coffee with me but always buy some mint tea bags when I get there because the mint tea can be more refreshing in the heat. However, I take both tea and coffee without milk and so don't have to bother about that but most tooms have small fridges in them or they are available for hire for a small extra charge and so I wouldn't think that it would be a problem.

Hi we also are flying out on the 9th where are you flying from we fly from newcastle and staying at the above hotel we have just descovered that we check in on the 9th but dont actualy fly out till 00.55 am on the 10th and as we are only going for the week means we only get 6 nights not 7 still looking forward to it tunisia sounds great from what i have read on here

We are leaving from Belfast at 7pm on Saturday so our first day will be Sunday by the time we get through the airport and to the hotel it will be after midnight. Lets hope its good weather. I couldn't believe the price we got this for it was a real bargain.

Have just got back again from two weeks at the Les Citronniers in Hammamet. As usual we had a great time.
With regard to the hotel - its 2 star. Its small and the facilities are basic. The breakfast is bread, cheese, jam, croissants, tea coffee, juice but for a couple of dinar you can order boiled eggs or a cooked breakfast. If staying half board then dinner is a 3 course choice of two dishes. The a'la'carte menu and lunch time snacks are excellent.
Hotel is very clean - especially bedrooms, with comfortable beds. Pool area is nice but you should go to the beach. Evening entertainment is held round the pool.
Lastly the staff - they are 5 star. Helpful - nothing is too much trouble - and friendly.
Go with an open mind and enjoy Tunisia

Les Citronnaires is an excellent Hotel, everything is so cheap in Tunisia, people are very friendly, many locals use the bar in the hotel. Rooms don't have any facilities such as tv or fridge and I guess this is the reason its 2 star. Food in the restaurant is excellent, especially the pepper steak. Staff would do anything for you. The beach is just across the street and down a lane,I heard reports of this being dirty but it isn't. The hotel own part of the beach they have jet skis which I think cost 30 dinar for 10 mins, theres a beach hut which serves food but this wasn't open (I went in April).

At the airport you pass through passport control so you have to queue and hand over your passport and a card with your details(this is giving to you on the flight) remember to keep half of the card for your return.

On return we got of the bus a local was asking which luggage was ours, he got it for us and got us to the check in desk first which was great (give him a tip) as once through check in you need to queue up to go through security, this is were you need the other part of your card and passport queues here can be long.

Once you come out of the hotel turn right you will see a newsagents don;t use this one, there is one further up the road about a minutes walk, its set back of hte road and theres a few steps up to it, they are really friendly here, (once we went for newspapers and we had no loose change and she asked us to pay her the next time we were in).

Remember to haggle, its great fun, personally I didn't like the Medinas I felt very intimidated. I shopped in the normal shops and i would start at a really low price and would get the item up going up a small amount got a small wooden warrior face with pieces for 17 dinar the girl was asking for 90 dinar.

Hi, going to Les Citronniers at the end of July. Heard good reports about the hotel. Can anyone give me any info on Hammamet. A friend of ours has just got back from Tunisia and wasn't very impressed

I found the Medina's a bit scary. The hotel is situated between Hammamet and Hammamet Yasmine (Yasmine is Beautiful) so taxi to either costs about the same 3 or 4 dinar (ask first).

In Tunisia you can go into any of other Hotels and look around or use there facilities (pool etc). Only went into Hammamet once. Went to a few of the other Hotel Bars within walking distance of the hotel.

we are going to tunisia in july never been before staying at les citrionniers would like to know wot to expect as i have two teenage girls ages 12,15 and wot would the weather be like sorry to be a pest but we have only been to turkey for the last 10yrs

hi we went to Tunisia for our 1st family holiday last Nov. We stayed in the Les oranger which is just down the road from your hotel.
We enjoyed the whole holiday. We were a bit frighted at first as you do get hassled by people to go into there shop. but believe me you have got to barter..everything seemed to be 65 dinas . you got to barter trsust me....a good palce to go is Nabul market..your rep will tell you alla bout it. This gave us the confidence to barter..We would say na 20 dinas , they would say no so you walk away , then they shout oh go on then..never pay the price. we got 4 puffs,bags etc.
Anyway the hotel you are in is not far from the beach. The beaches are lovely .There guys selling stuff & camel rids too. Just say no and they will go away. Just a word of warning. They do tend to put thinks in your kids hands like necklesses etc, just tell them not to touch as they have been know to say you touch you buy know..also comfirm any prices before you pay.
There is plenty of shop arount the hotel. The people who never bugged us got our custome as we felt relaxed. They also tend to say cuome and have a look i have lots of trainers and they will open up a cubbywhole full of trainers. which we did buy as they were knock off prices.
we wnet in nov so it was not that busy.but it was warn so i believe from what ive heard its very hot.
another bit of advice. dont buy any of the snakes or scorpions in dispaly cases. they still ahve the venum in them. so if you drop them and the glass breaks you could get caught with venum.
Take pen on the plane to fill in you visa card. to save time in Monistr.

P.S A few people who came on our trip to the market were from your hotel they said it was nice. Is it AI? TAke some snakes with you. We craved crisps And I found them expensive..

Re Les Citronniers - I have stayed at this hotel many times and would not hesitate in recommending it. Though may be its not to everyone's taste. Its a family run hotel - four brothers and a nephew, Bodye who runs the reception. The first thing to say about it is that everyone is very friendly and helpful. Secondly, its the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in. Its a basic 2 star with no frills. Having said that if you want anything - just ask - if they can provide it, they will. My friend loves liver and its always so fresh and tasty and the chef will cook it for her if they have it! We request the same room each visit and its always ready for us. The only thing that you may be disappointed with is the entertainment - in summer (and it will be hot,hot hot) its outside by the pool. You may prefer to go to another hotel, say the Fourati just down the road - they have disco etc.
The hotel has its own bit of private beach, which is cleaned every night, tables, chairs and sunloungers plus paragliding, water ski-ing, banana rides etc and the snack bar does great lunches.
Meals - breakfast is basic, bread, toast, jam, cheese, juice, tea and coffee but they have a menu for cooked and you can get yoghurts and boiled eggs if you ask.
Evening meal can be a set 3 course with a choice and its very good. You can also eat "al a carte" which is excellent and very reasonably priced.

If you want to know anything more - just ask. I will be there on 16th June - again!!. The Tunisians love children - but just keep an eye on two teenage girls - its the same everywhere - the girls always seem to "fall in love" with the entertainment team!!
