Just a tip for anybody thinking of booking a holiday with Haven Europe. We have been on a number of holidays to their own sites in France and always found them to be very good. This time we decided to book with them for their site at St. Jeans de Monts, in the Vendee.
The price they were quoting was £657 for 12 nights in a mobile home going on the 5 june. I knew that French Life also had mobile homes on this site, so decided to have a look at their prices..... same holiday...£354!!
This left me a little bit puzzled as to how a company who rents their pitches off Haven could be so much cheaper. I contacted Haven and asked them how this could happen and they where a little bit "gobsmacked" to say the least. The lady I spoke to couldn't understand how much the price differed, considering it was on one of their Haven "owned" sites. She then said she would have to speak to someone with regard to matching the French Life price.
She phoned back later, and not only did we get the holiday for £354, but they gave us better sailing times ( which we would have to pay extra for with F/L) but also waived the bed linen hire charge and the damage waiver deposit.
So I just thought I would share this experience and advise anyone thinking of booking with them to see if they can get their holiday cheaper with anyone else and then contact them and see If they match it and throw in a couple of extras.
It's about time the bloated money grabbers got some come uppance
the cross channel ferry price war is such an example of user power affecting prices
