we have been going for about 15 years three times a year cant get enough of the place

First went in 1974 as a little girl, staying in the Reymar hotel(now Ambassador Playa).
Stopped going after a disasterous stay at the Hotel Titanic in 1979, now the Marina hotel.
Ventured back in 1996 and have been numerous times since!
In fact Benidorm was the place where I lured my my now husband to a freebie week, and so is considered as "our" place now!

What would we do without good old Benidorm??
:D

I went once in 1969, that was enough.

I went as a six year old with my parents and now 28 years later I'm going back. Fly out on the 28th of this month for a few days and am really looking forward to it :D

I've been going to Benidorm now on average twice a year for the last 15 years and really love it. I met my husband there so it is really special to us.

We are going in 3 weeks and I have been counting down just like Jackie :)

We have thought about going to other places but always book to go back to Benidorm as we like it so much and know it so well it always feels like we are home when we arrive and see all the familiar places.

I don't think I will ever get fed up of this wonderful place.

I have temporarily given up counting at 87 trips, but I think there may be a few more which are still unaccounted for.

No I didn't have a bad experience. Miles of high rise hotels don't appeal to me. I prefer a smaller quiter place. It all depends what you want from a holiday and Benidorm didn't have it for me.

It's not everyone's taste, Judith. But were there miles of high rise blocks in 1969 ? I wonder what you would think of the place now if you did re-visit.

I've always favoured quiet - get away from it all resorts. Am a regular visitor to Greece. I'm airline crew and this winter in particular I've spoken to so many passengers from all walks of life who all love the place and return time and time again. So I've got some time off and can travel very cheaply so am taking the plunge! Like I said am really looking forward to it! I'll have to let you all know what I think!

I've been to Benidorm five times and go again on Friday (8th April) then in September. I've stayed at the following hotels/appartments

Dynastic park (Sept 2002)
Las Torres (Sept 2003)
Ambassador Playa (Sept 2004)
Torpa Apartments (Dec 2004)
Herreo Apartments (Sept 2004)
Herreo Apartments (April 2005)
Gemelos 2 (Sept 2005)

I had never fancied Benidorm prefering Tenerife but decided to give it a go on a family jaunt (they go twice every year) consisting of 25 in 2002, first impressions were that it was a dull dreary rainy place (It was 6am) when we were dropped off at Dynastic park, members of my family had experienced a mis-fortune with money and passports going missing at the reception within the first 5 minutes so it was a great start for me, How I wished for Las Americas at that point!!. But for me the atmosphere at night in Benidorm won me over, as opposed to veronicas in tenerife and being bugged every 2 steps by PR's and it's over aggressive attitude it had a friendly atmosphere, it catered for all ages and the choice was unreal, it really did have something for everybody, i also found it a lot cheaper than what i was used to in tenerife (I had been there 14 times in the previous 7 years) and the place was winning me over as I also felt it was a more cleaner than las americas, I had seen a decline in Las Americas the last time I went in 2002 and haven't returned since. Other than my first half an hour the first time I went to Benidorm I can hand on heart say that I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of my holidays there!!.

Apologies for going on a bit! :o
Updated 2008 - Now been 20 times, and me 21st coming up in September :tup

first went in 1976 and stayed at the britania hotel, which was up a dirt track behind the duke of wellington thought i was in paradise as i had never been abroad before, the lemoms and oranges on the trees fasinated me and the smell of jasmine wonderful, did not go back till 1997, with my new husband who loves benidorm and has been many times, wanted to find the britania but the place had changed so much behind the duke it was so built up there was nothing there except out hotel in 76 does anyone know if the britania was demolished or changed names, i remember pelicanos and titanic so was glad to see that now it is called the marina helps my bearings a little, as to how it was, everytime i go now which is quite often i sit in the duke which as hardly changed and cant believe the difference it was only about hundred yards behind it if that

Went for the first time in 1998. Our neighbours recommended it to us. Was very wary about going and a wee bit embarrased to tell people where we were going on holiday because of it's "so called" tacky reputation. Loved the place. Since then we go 2 or 3 times a year. My son calls it his second home. I'm going on Saturday, again in June and hope to go around christmas time again. Also have been to Salou, different resorts in Ibiza, Majorca and Sunny Beach in Bulgaria. In my opinion no other resort compares to Benidorm.

It was our first time to benidorm last august, and although our hotel was nothing to write home about (Gala placidia- was told it was demolished in oct, but don't know if this is true) anyway getting back to the subject, we loved it so much, that we have booked to go again this august, (and we have never booked the same destination ever twice, as we like to go to different places), but can't wait till we go again!!!BBB.

First went about 10 years ago, first holiday abroad, went to other places after that but still prefered Beni so started going back and try to visit at least once a year, as everyone says it caters for ever age. I did notice it was quieter last year as I think alot of peoples are trying new places but it feels like our second home, so much that we plan to settle here once our youngest finishes school. My daughter met her boyfriend there almost 2 years ago, although he lives quite near us so it is special to them too. Don't think us old regulars will ever stay away. Karen
