We will have kids with us they will be my daughter and her friend both aged 13, I think at the moment we are favouring Cala Gran, but we are bringing the car with us so approximately how long would it be by car from Marton Mere into Blackpool ?

Thanks Polly

hi polly.
if you drive your car into blackpool from marton mere its not as far as it is on the bus.about 15 mins, but that depends on traffic and where to park.but it shouldnt be to bad.
cala gran and marton mere have good entertainment, but as we dont have kids,we didnt go into that area to much,
going back to the transport, you can buy all day tickets to use the bus or trams,£5 for adults and a bit less for children, which is sometimes better than trying to park.hope this helps angelica :?

Hi angelica

Have just booked the Cala Gran for a week 4 June this year - a 2 bedroomed gold luxury caravan, all I need now is some good weather for that week then we can hit the beach :wink

Thanks for all your help

We had a weekend break to Marton Mere Nov 03 and had a Bronze caravan which was a bloody manky stinking filthy hovel - I had to clean up dried on wee on the loo before we could use it!!!!!!!!!!!!

We complained bitterlyand got a 20% off voucher of another holiday/break so we booked for a week in a Gold Star caravan last May and that was wonderful! Had a fantastic week and booked to go back again while we were there - go in 4 weeks!

My advice - pay for the upgrade it is worth it!

Hi Tisonlymoi

Glad we went for Gold star caravan - sounds like we made the better choice.

Hi Polly

Definitely the right choice! The Bronze one was absolutely disgusting and smelt so badly of smoke, even numerous air fresheners couldn't get rid of the smell and the kitchen was just plain disgusting!

The Gold caravan was immaculate - couldn't fault it at all - home from hom and all mod cons!

Hi Angelica

On the question of public transport do the trams/buses go directly from Cala Gran into Blackpool or would we have to go into Fleetwood itself to catch either and approximately how long would it take the bus/tram to get to blackpool

Thanks

hi polly,
bus stop is right out side cala gran, number 14 bus takes you into fleetwood about 5 minutes.into blackpool about 35 minutes.bus run every 10 minutes until about 7and the every 20 minutes until quite late.
tram stop is just a short walk from cala gran, every 20 minutes ish, tuesday ,fri, sat,is market day in fleetwood so the bus and trams are usually very busy, its a lovely ride on the tram into blackpoolon the tram as it takes you all along the prom.hope this helps

We tug our own van

Marton Mere for us is ******** the add that ******y Bradley Bear

will stick to Caravan Club Site or a Certified location next time we go to Blackpool they are cheaper and more friendly

Britsh Holidays ----------------= rip off holidays

This is MY personal opinion and does not reflect the websites view

Hi

Just got back yesterday and we had a great time, the weather was perfect and Cala Gran was good, caravan was nicely decked out and was clean, staff were friendly and helpful and the entertainment was good, food and supermarket at park was quite expensive (went to Kwik Save in Fleetwood to shop), visited Fleetwood was ok, visited the Freeport and the market although have to admit thought alot of the stalls at the market were aimed at the older residents/visitors to Fleetwood and there seemed to be alot of these, no problem with this just an observation. Took the car into Blackpool went to pleasure beach one day and up the Tower and the Tower Circus on another day both good days out, the circus was brilliant. Went to Camelot, first day we got lost in Preston (we are not used to your roads as we come from the IOM and we spent about a hour and half trying to find our way out of Preston so by the time we got to Camelot it was too late so decided to try again the next day, got lost in Preston again but only for half an hour this time so made it to Camelot in good time, quite a small park and I think it could do with a bit of a facelift, kids enjoyed it and as it was not busy went on the rides loads of times, we enjoyed the jousting show. Had a good meal at the last pub before you get on the boat at Heysham - Lord Rothsbay or something like that. All in all we had a very enjoyable break.

Surely, whether the caravan is bronze or gold star, or anything in between, they should all be just as clean as each other? If the cheaper vans are regularly let out in a filthy condition, the site should be reported.
