The Luna is in the northern part of the resort which is the quieter end but only about a 10-15 minutes walk from the centre. There is a very useful noddy train which cost 1 lev (35p) last year to the centre. The only problem with the Luna is the number of steps from the beach but you can cheat and go through the hotel next door(Morsko Oko). Underneath the said Morsko Oko on the front is the Golden Lion supposedly English Pub, which does a nice pub lunch and is quite lively of an evening. Please feel free to ask anything else.

Golden sands august 19th

hi kenway family.im going to golden sands on the 11th for 2 weeks for my honeymoon. there are 9 of us going,none of us have been to bulgaria before so we dont know what to expect. were all up for a good laugh so even if the resort is a bit dull you can expect to see us all in our togas or pyjamas on a night out to liven the place up.hope you enjoy your holiday as much as we will.see you there.

Golden Sands- info please

well finally we decided on a resort and booked in at Atlas in golden sands. Me and my boyfriend are going for a week at the end of june. Can we have sonme tips on places to visit, like any sights we shouldn't miss? or any info about the hotel?

All depends on what you want. The Atlas is right in the middle of the livelier part of the resort, everything is very close. Suggest you have a day in Varna for shopping. Take at least one trip into the countryside to see what Bulgaria really has to offer.

so I've heard and that's why I booked the Atlas.

5mins to the beach, 3mins to the infamous Bonkers night club, bus stop for bus to Varna nearby and yet fairly quietly located up on the hill.

Patka, can you confirm this?

Yes thats about right, but dont forget the other half of the resort, get the noddy train from the Admiral hotel to the marina and have a leisurely stroll back calling at various hostelries on the way.

we are going teh 29th June for a week, booked with balken. I just can't wait. Well thanks for the tips, i will make sure to visit varna for shopping and the countryside, do you just get a taxi to local, countryside or a bus?

what are the best restaurants and bars?

has anyone been Atlas?

As it's your first trip to Bulgaria, suggest an organised coach trip to the countryside/Bulgarian home etc. Varna can be reached by bus or taxi.

Recommendations re restaurants and bars have the problem that things can change so much from year to year that what we found last year might not be there this season. No problem, you are spoiled for choice, there are so many.

Golden Sands @ 24 June 2005

Me and me wife will visit Bulgaria for the first time this year. We are planning to stay in Golden Sands at 24 June 2005. But how will be the weather at this time? can we go swimming easily?
Also, I am thinking of Admiral Hotel, but I see no website for the hotel itself. Anyone with previous experience about it? or any other recommended hotels?

The weather will be fine - beautiful swimming conditions.

Admiral hotel is great we stayed there for 3 weeks last Sept and are going back this September. It's in the very best position in the resort. Safety deposit boxes are in rooms and free. Any specific questions please ask.

Look at goldensands.bg and you will see more of the hotel.

I have seen this website but was looking for the hotel's main site, seems there is not.
Anyway, it is good that you tried it and liked it. I need to ask something about the bathrooms, do the sea view double rooms have bath or only showers?

Also, What things to do in Golden Sands? and Nightlife?

Hi George,

You have found the only web site at http://www.goldensands.bg/admiral/.

Not too sure about the baths, but knowing how Bulgarians express themselves, the rooms with bathrooms will have them, as opposed to those with showers and WC.

As to your specific questions, you will have to make sure you book a sea view with a bathroom with your travel company, because it appears they have a choice of sea view with shower only or with baths.

If you are going independent you can email the hotel at
hotel.admiral@goldensands.bg.

You can rely upon the Admiral being a true 5 star and as good as it looks.

There are loads of places to visit in the resort, and in nearby Varna. The Admiral has its own nightclub, and there are plenty of others.

Me and my boyfriend going Golden Sands the 29th June, we staying at the Atlas, after much research i don't think you can go wrong with any 4 or 5 star hotels out there.

The Admiral hotel was once knowen as the Rodena .The hotel was refurbushed for last year and it is a magnificent hotel .It is right in the middle of the resort ,so you have every thing at hand .Bank is just below it and gives a good exchange rate as we used all the time last year :lol:

The Admiral is NOT a refurbished hotel the Rodina was completely demolished. However all the rest of your facts are correct.

Golden Sands & water parks ?

Are there any water parks in Golden Sands resort ?
If so, anybody got any reviews on them ?
Also, which would be the nearest town with a local market, good for a day out ?

The Aquapolis is the waterpark in Golden Sands, I've heard good reviews about it. The best place for market and a good look around is Varna easily reached by local bus and the market is every day I believe.
