Sure do just moved from that area...walking distance from the beach, and all the bars and eating houses of Coral Bay...the hotel is ok, nice pool and usually is all inclusive...it's Coral Bay, only decent popular beach in this area, the others I am keeping to myself..... cant say much more about it really, you should have a good time, a car maybe a good investment to see more of the surrounding area such as Polis and Latchi, see the real Cyprus...my advice..

The area you asked about development is still being developed, as is most of this area, and the reason we moved on!! 8)

have a good stay..

I visited in 2004 and there had been a fair bit of development from the main Coral Bay road down towards the front of the Ascos. If you know the area, the villas are now past Feggari restaurant and there was room for, probably, another row before reaching the road in front of the Ascos.
It certainly wasn't noticeable or intrusive from the hotel grounds though.
I have a photo from the front of the hotel which I'll try and post. The villas look quite nice, by the way!!

I have also heard that there is now some ongoing development to the right of the hotel since my last visit although again, it's not intrusive.
I'm back at the Ascos in three weeks so it hasn't put me off.
Anyone know if Andreas, the pool barman, is still there? He's a real star.

I found the picture and posted it so you'll be able to get an idea of the development.

Have a good holiday

Hi,
Just booked a week away in middle of May to this hotel.
Got what we think is a good deal (£650 for both of us AI) but have read some negative reviews but seems to be in the past year there are lots of positive reviews, something to do with new management I think.

Any details or reviews of this hotel would be appreciated.

Regards,
Barry & Gemma

Time flies, doesn't it. Only eight weeks to go before I'm back at the Ascos again.

In June 2005 the area to the right of the hotel had been cleared and laid out ready for development so I suspect by this time it will be substantially complete, judging by the rate properties go up in Cyprus. Certainly in the year prior to that there had been quite a lot of building along the shoreline towards Coral Bay although it was only really visible from the hotel if you were on the second floor. Around the pool and lawns it was pretty well business as usual.
I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has been there recently.

Anyone else going during the first couple of weeks in June?

Hi

I'm going back to Ascos on 30th April for 2 wks (can't wait) :D I knew about building work which was going on a couple of months ago, was due to be finished March 2006, but we had a letter from first choice 2 weeks ago to say approx completion end of April, but to be honest I don't care, We have been here before on our honey moon 3 years ago and loved every minute of it, and from reviews I have been reading it has got better, but we could not fault it in any way the first time round!! Can't wait, will post review on our return!!

One question though, are they still doing archery???
:D

Off to Ascos Beach (Coral Bay) 2 weeks on Sunday now, first time All Inclusive.
Does anyone know if you can wear shorts or 3 quarter length jeans/trousers when down for your evening meal.
Don't tend to wear full length trousers in Cyprus but need to know if I'll need some for night.

Cheers,

Barry & Gem

Hi there

We are also going to the Ascos on sunday for 2 weeks!

We have been once before 3 years ago and the gentlemen did have to wear long trousers for evening meal.

Hope this helps, see you there maybe!?

Gentlemen are requested to wear long trousers for dinner and the Ascos generally apply this rule.
Some guests change back into 3/4 length trousers after dinner but I've never really sen the point.
After a day generally lounging around the pool I think putting on what is effectively smarty casual wear isn't a hardship.

Thanks Dave, been to Cyprus 3 times now and every time it was far to warm to wear jeans and I'm not really at the wearing chino 's stage yet.
Not looking to turn up for my meal in my swim shorts or anything just prefer to wear smarty/casual 3 quarter trousers or shorts on holiday.

Oh well looks like its jeans for me.

In find wearing long pants in England even over winter makes me way too warm.. but when in 30deg heat its unbearable...

Due to go to Ascos Beach first week in June. Have been informed that there is building work next to hotel, our travel agent has told us it will be finished for end of April and will not affect our holiday. Does anyone have any information about the building work going on or has the development now been completed.

Thank you

Not many parts of Cyprus they are not building on but the Ascos is not in any real problems with building work, it is low key stuff mainly villas..

The area next to the hotel had already been marked out into plots last June and, as Jim says, it's all residential and low key around that area.

See you in June as we arrive on 4th for a couple of weeks!

Just an update from a contact in Coral Bay:-

"The building work by the Ascos Hotel is located on the right hand side; the heavy work is complete and they are now on the tiling stage, so it will not interfere with your stay".

Just under three weeks to go now...

Hiya all

The work is still on going apparently they have another 3/4 houses to build, we got back from ascos on Sunday (14.05.06). The work outside the hotel could get very noisey if sat round pool area and you did get a few clouds of dust. Plus they were cutting wood stood on roof area with a chain saw!! so you did get a bit of saw dust coming over. Only woken up a few days at 7am!!

Also be warned they are renovating rooms so we did get quiet a bit of noise in the hotel, they did try to keep noise to min and at time when most guests out of rooms but one day we had drilling going on under/above us we could not make out do to how noisy it was from 15.00 until we went for our tea at 19.00!! Was not impressed that day at all!!

Have a great time and say hi to Stevie P, David, Kayleigh & Jenny (tell her the on that looks like her friend!) the entertainment team for us!

Thanks
Gemma & Colin xx
