This is in my own neck of the woods, but I`m ashamed to say that we only went there for the first time the other day. I`m talking about the National Parrot Sanctuary at Friskney, about 5 miles outside Skegness, a bit of a trek off the A52. Alocal man had so many parrots sick, abandoned or plain unwanted, handed over to him, that he decided to start a sanctuary. It`s run as a charity, and is well worth a visit. Some of the birds are free flying, some in cages. Most of them have been in cages for so long that they have forgotten what their wings are for. They are cared for, and given all the medical attention needed, and encouraged to fly again. There is a small cafe/souvenir shop, toilet facilities, and for £2 you can have your photo taken with one of the birds. If you like birds, this is a brilliant place to spend 2 or 3 hours, but be warned, although signposted, it still takes some finding once you leave the A52. Admission is £4-60, and £3 for children and OAP`s.
