Has anyone done this whilst on holiday in Almeria??
Lisa
Do you mean while on holiday in the Costa de Almeria or Almeria itself ? I went last month when I was staying in Mojacar Playa and enjoyed it. Mini Hollywood is a trip that is available from all the tour operators that go to this area. If you've got any more questions about it I will try and answer them.
Thanks for that, can you tell me a little about what it is, had a search on the internet but didn't find much about it.
There are at least 3 places of interest within a few km of each other. I believe one is still used for quite a bit of filming and accepts visitors whilst the others are primarily turist attractions.
Those that have visited will be able to give you more detail.

It's not a bad day out, when we went it was summer, so it was very hot, to be honest a half day would cover it, the scenery around there is stunning
Hi Lisa, you will find a little bit of info at the following link
It's been nearly 4 yrs since we went but we still have great memories of our day out there. There are two sections, one is a wild west town where you can see a cowboy show and get dressed up cowboy style clothing amonst other things. This was really good fun and I'm sure if you have kids, they will love it. The other section is a wildlife park which was just lovely. We saw a really good parrot show there and spent ages walking around and looking at the other animals. There was a great open-air BBQ restaurant where we had lunch which had the most amazing views across the desert. It was very hot but well worth going - you should be able to book it through your rep.
As Corinne said, it's a wild west town film set that was used in many western films in the 1960's and 70's. Twice a day at midday and 5 pm, a team of stuntmen act out a bank robbery, jail break, hanging and gunfight between the James gang and the sheriff and his deputies which is good fun to watch. Background music from films like a 'fistful of dollars' and 'the good, the bad and the ugly' is constantly being played to add to the western atmosphere as you walk around. There is also a working Saloon bar where they put on a small can-can and western dance show and where you can buy refreshments.
The wildlife park is pretty good and we probably spent more time there than in the wild west town. It also has a little road train that takes you on a short trip around a section of the park. We spent a leisurely 6 hours in Mini Hollywood and saw everything comfortably in that time.
Am going to Benalmadena in May but flying into Almeria (much cheaper that Malaga). Need somewhere to go during the day before getting an evening flight home.
Any suggestions (2 adults and 2 boys age 7 & 11)
Definetly do it but be warned it can get very hot there and bring lots of water with you especially for when you go to the rear of the park to the Zoo. They also have a swimming pool where you can hire towels and have a shower. My kids loved Mini Hollywood.
That's a drive and a half there Slodge. It must be at least 130 miles from Almeria airport to Benalmadena and even further from Mini Hollywood. Mini Hollywood is a good half day out though with a staged stunt show and a pretty decent zoo. Here's a link to a previous discussion about Mini Hollywood on this forum to give you an insight.
I have merged the two topics so the link in Robbo's post will no longer work.
Close to Mini Hollywood is the far less publicised and less touristy Texas Hollywood, but again there was little information provided about the Spaghetti Westerns.
I have yet to visit Western Leone which is also nearby. This is apparently the location of the Sweetwater Ranch in 'Once Upon a Time in the West' where Charles Bronson had a shootout with Henry Fonda.
