Was there 2002 food was fine entertaiment not so good same thing every night gets really boring the hotel was lovely but being half board 4 of us were in the same room it was very cramped .We went in july and it was extremely hot unbearable at times. The staff were not the friendliest becauzse there were so many people there and they had lots to do. We won't be back I caught the turkey bug many years ago and wouldn't go anywhere else now that the kids have grown up.

hi im going to salou at the beginning of september staying at dorada palace after reading mixed reviews on hotel and salou im worried about the muggings, the entertainment and the weather. we are going with first choice family plus and have been told the kids clubs and entertainment in the hotel is brill, is this true. have i anything to worry about
What time do they open the pool area? dont like getting up early on holiday but last time we were there if you did not q you did not get a sun bed.
laudan i think you will have to q for the sunbeds the doors open at 9.00am sharp its like harrods in the january sales what a laugh watching them rush
me and my partener went to the dorada palace last year with our son who was one at the time.We also went with our friends and their kids.We went half board and it was well worth it.The breakfast buffet was fantastic! The evening buffet was good too although I found myself eating the more simple food from the kids buffet. The hotel was absolutely gorgeous and so clean. It stated that the maids would clean twice a week but they came everyday and changed sheets and towels! We actually had to leave a sign outside saying it didnt need cleaned! There was loads to do and the entertainment at night was a bit cheesey but everyone enjoyed it! The beach in salou is lovely although the sand is quite warm so its best to hire the sunbeds with canopies. They dont cost much. The waterpark (Costa Caribe) is well worth a visit or ten! Loads for all ages and keeps the kids entertained all day! Shopping is good too although beware of prices! check a few shops for the same product as we bought a football in one shop that cost 22 euros and in one three doors down it cost only 13! Overall a brilliant hotel and holiday! We would be going back this year but it was fully booked!
does anyone know the dress code for this hotel for the restuarant read on the review couldnt wear t shirts for breakfast dont mind dressing up for tea but breakfast
hi brownetts you will be ok at brekki tee shirt and shorts was the norm even football shirts but as they say for the evening its any shirt as long as it has got sleeves short/long no football tops and you are ok with jeans and trousers but not shorts if that makes sence
hi could anyone tell me what the entertainment is like in the hotel is there alot on for kids and adults or do you have to venture out
My friend recently returned and she said that the beds that are for the kids are not really suitable - one was just a bit of foam on the floor!! I am quite concerned because my children are 5, 10 and 12 and not very small. I feel that although we are only going for one week, what it is costing they should be comfortable at night. Are there any families of 5 that have been recently that could comment.
With reference to Port Aventura Theme Park, I just wondered how many days I will need including the water park. We will not go on any of the big thrill rides.
Also, can someone tell me what day of the week the Barcelona trip goes on?
How long do you have to queue for the get a sunbed???
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can get to Barcelona any day on the train.

At least 1 day for the waterpark and a couple of days for the theme park in order to be able to make the most of it and take in the shows/attractions.
We visited for a week and spent the whole week going in and out of the park (we did stay onsite though so it seemed daft not to pop in and out).
myself,my husband and my 2 children are off to the dorada palace hotel first 2 weeks of may, anyone else going? is this a good choice of hotel? anybody give us some idea of what its like for a family in salou.
