Going to La Pineda 19th August and just wondered if anyone can recommend places to eat / drink and things to do. Is there anything for the children age 8 and 4 to do of a night?

We went 4 years ago. Not a great deal there for kids that I remember. There is a good waterpark & the beach is lovely so it's OK in the day. All I remember at night is a play area next to a bar on the main road through the resort which is open at night. Also there was a showbar / restaurant with entertainment but not really for little ones. It might have changed since then.

A nice place is ann's beach bar, she has nice food and ann and geoff are really friendly. At the waterpark in la pineda there is also a dolphin and sealion show which is good and you are only 5 minutes from the theme park in salou. Hope this helps.

As others have said there is not a great deal to do in La Pineda, there are a few bars/restaurants. there is a little place with bowling for adults and kids, mini golf, pool table and a few other games, it also has entertainment some nights. It is right beside the Golden Donaire Park hotel, which is right on the beach.
If you want something a bit more lively then Salou is just a short bus/taxi ride away.
Which hotel/aparts are you staying at?

Hi The waterpark is also open free at night when main bit is closed, to play mini golf, trampolines and other play areas. Different entrance to main one, its further along the Road but you can't really miss it. Maybe what Steve is taking about. Lots of reasonable eating places there also. Karen

We are staying at the La Hacienda hotel which I think is in the outskirts of La Pineda. Booked independently and are flying from Liverpool with Ryan air. Go on Friday and I am counting the days. Hope the weather is going to be ok. Plan to visit the waterpark in La Pineda with the dolphin and sealion show as I think this is more suitable than the waterpark in Salou.

Stayed in Salou last yr and went to la Pineda one day for a change. We liked it, much quieter than Salou but a lovely little beach.

We had a snack lunch at a place called Gordon's Bar. The food was really nice and nothing was too much trouble for the chap running it. In fact we made a point of going back over to La Pineda a few nights later for a main meal there. Well worth a visit :D

La Hacienda is literally THE end of La Pineda, it is the last Hotel in the resort, it looks a really nice Hotel.
Around the corner is a pub called The Admiral, it is quite good for the kids, if you are prepared to spend a small fortune on them as there is a big games room. It also has some entertainment.

Have a great Holiday

I am one of these people who are always planning and putting together a holiday. I would love to go to Salou and do the Port Aventura park. However, I am not over impressed with any of the accomodation I can find in Salou itself, especially as we go on holiday end of July and I think Salou will just be too busy for us.

However, I am now after finding the Estival Park Apartments in La Pineda
and I think this location could be a good compromise for us. Close enough to Salou yet away from everything.

Our oldest will be 13 at the time we travel and I was just wondering how busy La Pineda is and are there some bars and restaurants in the area. Any help on this area would be great. 8) 8)

i came back from Salou, last week, we went to la Pineda a couple of times as the beach was nowhere like as busy as salou's.

there are plenty of bars and restaurants in La pineda and with the bus service to salou being reliable and cheap ( about a pound) you can easily do both

hope that helps.

Try Cap Salou... just inbetween La Pineda and the main part of Salou - a 10 minute bus ride either way.
We stayed in the H10 Med Village there, in the self catering apartments and loved it. Brillient hotel complex in a lovely little village.

We had our second visit to La Pineda in July this year. We went in July 2004 and absolutely loved it there.

Our party consisted of my parents in their 50s, hubby and I in our 30s and our two sons of 12 & 8.

The buses run a 24hour service between Cambrils, Salou, Port Aventura, La Pineda and Tarragona, so you would be ideally situated.

The waterpark at La Pineda is brilliant. There is a strip of boutiques, restaurants and bars along the front, a couple of which have pool tables and air hockey outside. There is also the crazy golf within the waterpark which is good to go along to in the evening for 3.5 euros.

The best thing about La Pineda is the beach. Immaculately clean and very gently shelving into the sea.

I would recommend this resort to anybody!

yclarke,

When you get to the Donaire (pronounced Don-eye-ree), on your first night take a stroll along the promenade and there will be a young woman at the bus stop handing out bus timetables. Detailed on them is the trip to Barcelona, including a visit to the Nou Camp and the fountains, plus some free time. Sorry, I can't remember the price but they ran a few times a week. It's run by the local bus company (Plana), but they are lovely looking coaches that they put on for the Barca trips. I think they left La Pineda at about 2pm and returned around 10-11pm.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for that info, not long to go now am looking forward to doing a trip to barcelona.

Do you know how far the donaire is from port aventura? is it walking distance?

Thanks

Port Aventura on foot would take ages with the heat, the bus stops accross the road from Donaire and takes roughly 15 mins.

I agree with Loulou.

We could see Dragon Khan and the new Tower ride from our balcony, but I wouldn't fancy walking in the heat in July.

The buses are really regular and cheap AND air-conditioned, so are the much better option!

Would agree with the H10 med village in cap salou we came back in July which was our second time there and Ive just booked last night with direct holidays to go back at the end of july next year. Its easily the best we have stayed in (2 adults and 2 kids) and is perfect for families. Roll on 30th July 2006 :D
