I have been to:
Corfu (Dassia) was very young at the time but 6/10 just for beauty
Kos (3) (Kefalos) you dont go somewhere 3 times for nothing 8/10
Kefalonia (Scala) a beautiful unforgettable place 7/10
Going to Skiathos next week, also plan to visit a few other places in the coming years, lets see where everyones been and then I can see who to ask
Also to Crete, enjoyed very much despite breaking my leg in 4 places on the second day!
Have been to Rhodes 71 times!!!! The island has changed tremendously in the last 20 years but I still love it and have many close friends over there. It feels like going home. I had a lovely letter from the Mayor of Rhodes a few years ago and felt really special that my love for the island was appreciated.
Rhodes- Lindos( in October)-full marks- absolutely beautiful and some pretty unique bars to visit as well. No cars or motor vehicles.Good work out for the calf muscles as well!
Hydra- day trip only but must be the top place for a fantastic setting
Halkidiki- 8 out of 10 Hanioti- lovely setting around a central square. Great beach
Zakynthos- it was a 10 at the time( Tsilivi) as it had everything we wanted and we went 5 times. However, it appears to have become a Brit resort now so my marks if I ever returned would be a lot different!
Crete- Stalis 8 out of 10. Great island for siteseeing.
Tolon- 9 out of 10. HEAPS of places to go around it.
Kefalonia- two day trips only. Breathtaking scenery.
Paxos (12 times so far) - 10/10 Just the most beautiful place I can imagine.
Zakynthos ((6 times in the 80's/90's) - Started out as a 10, but during my last couple of visits it got marked down and I'd probably now put it at about a 5, purely because of the way over-development has changed it.
Kefalonia (twice) - 8/10 A big, beautiful island with lots to see and do.
Corfu (twice) - 8/10 I'd give Corfu Town and some of the resorts a 10, but marked it down overall because of places like Kavos and some other "English pubs and fish & chips" type resorts.
Samos (once) - 8/10 Another beautiful island with plenty of different places to explore.
Crete (once) - 7/10 Only went there for a week out of season, so didn't really see it at its best. Would like to go back and see more though.
Tolon - 7/10 A bit too cosmopolitan and "ungreek" for my tastes, but good for nightlife and plenty of places of interest nearby.
Ag Theodora (near Corinth) - 7/10 My first taste of Greece back in the 70's. Loved it then, but it's probably changed a lot since!
Zante/Tsilivi 7/10 Very nice resort though found it sometimes a bit breezy on beach
Symi 8/10 On day trip from Rhodes, not huge, but picturesque with good tavernas.
Santorini 9/10 Great view in capital, hence picture used in many brochures.
Rhodes/Lindos 10/10 The score says it all, just a beautiful place, great beach, great food etc etc, only downside gets very busy in day, though it wouldnt stop me from relocating there
Corfu - twice - Kavos 0/10, St George S - 6/10, Corfu Town 10
Lesvos - 3 times - 10/10
Leros - 3 times - 10/10 (for me - most people would give it a 3!)
Thassos - once - 8/10, Serres and Kavala - 8/10
Tilos - 7 times plus a 7 month stint - 20/10!
Symi - once 8/10
Halki - once - 1/10 - really didn't like it - pretty but with a weird atmosphere
Kastellorizo - once - 9/10 - loses 1 because no beaches at all....
Crete - 8 times 10/10
Rhodes - twice plus numerous visits when going to/from Tilos -8/10
Paxos - twice - 9/10 - loses one because its expensive!
Nissyros - once - 8/10
Sure I've missed some!
Rhodes 2x - Haraki & Lindos lovely people and lovely contrasting scenery plus we got married there ! 10/10
Skiathos - not impressed 4/10
Corfu 2x- felt it was getting too touristy although beaches and scenery gorgeous , and Corfu town lovely to spend time there 6/10
Lesvos- quieter and again contrasting scenery , scary driving though! 9/10
Zakynthos - again a bit too touristy 6/10
Crete - x2 perhaps need to see more of Crete - - 7/10
Kefallonia - been there & probably won't need to go back- lovely beaches and scenery 6/10
Ios - very pretty island - small & quiet 7/10
Zakynthos once alykanas 4/10 the island is over developed and to many brits own bars and restaurants so you got there version of Greece
Rhodes 4 times Pefkos 8/10 stayed just out of Pefkos the only down side with Pefkos is it was starting to get over developed but had it on good authority (owner of tsambikas restaurant ) that they the local have realised that they may have gone to far with the building so have put a stop to any more
Samos once (And going again this year ) Pythagorion 9/10 apts where good restaurants where good so where the bars nice beaches and so great views from the hills
Santorini once Perrisa 6/10 some great views especially the sunset at Oia
apts not to great small pool and found it exspensive compared to other islands
crete ( hersonissous) 7/10 bit to busy for me
Zante (laganas outskirts) 6/10 lovely island but laganas to british for me altough my two girls loved it
Rhodes ( lindos) 8/10 only because of the day trippers making it somtimes crowded

and I am going to Paros in a couple of weeks and ever so excited!Hope it will be a 10/10.
Been to Kos once, stayed in Kos Town....and going back in October, the holiday was good, but drank too much and was ill the last 2 days and stayed on some rubbish apartments! Going back with some better company and staying in better apartments so current rating about 8/10.
Went to Santorini last year and stayed in Kamari, great holiday, have to give 10/10....very small island but stunning...would go back but not in a rush as would like to explore some more Greek islands, have Crete, Kefalonia and Mykonos in mind!
I would love to go to Santorinin and Mykonos but get put off by the tourist aspect and the price, who knows though, have to do everything once hehe
Yes Sally, Santorini looks gorgeous doesn't it? The thing that puts me off though, is that it's so popular with honeymooners and American tourists. So, although the beauty of the island has been preserved, I wonder how much of its "greeknes" remains, or is everything aimed at the expectations and demands of the tourists? I just have this mental image of something like a cross between a theme park and a Sandals resort. I'd love to hear that I'm wrong though :-)
Corfu - Kavos 18-30 thing which was great at the time
Rhodes - Lindos, beautiful and did the day trip to Turkey
Zante - Laganas, Really good holiday with lots to do and see.
Kefalonia - Lassi, Probably my favourite. Beautiful quiet beaches, visted some nearby islands, (can't recall names!) all lovely.
Santorini - Kamari, Another great holiday
Skiathos in a couple of weeks time,
I also went to a Greek island almost every year with my parents - including Crete, Corfu, Kos, Rhodes - So I've been a bit spoilt!
(Sad I know, but I'm already considering next year's trip. Am thinking of doing a big trip to New Zealand, but half tempted to save the money and visit Samos!)
Rhodes-Lardos, small island but beautiful. Had apartments right on the beach, bit of a hill to climb to apartments from main square, which is lovely 10/10 and definetly will return
Kefalonia (Mounda Beach, near Skala) absolutely beautiful, also very quiet and peaceful, lovely island.
Lefkada (Nidri), but only by a boat trip from Kefalonia, didn`t get much time to explore, but liked what we saw.
I know it`s not actually Greece, but Cyprus is out of this world!
Mounda isnt that known as Turtle Beach, i love that place
Santorini is commercialised but not any more so than Rhodes or Kos. It's very cosmopolitan, and yes there are plenty of Americans and Japanese. I would say it's a couples place mainly because of a lack of beaches but it's very different, it's still Greek in places....It's hard to describe in words, you just have to go and find out for yourself! The feeling of awe when you take your first look over the Caldera edge and see Fira from a distance, it's wow!
Yes, Mounda is also known as Turtle beach. It`s really beautiful there, and we did our best to respect the turtles habitat, but not mamy people were there when we were, in August 2003, so not too much disturbance.
