if you are looking for beach relaxation in Morocco in October, which a low season. I would advice to go to esssaouira or Agadir. Essaouira was portuguese port full of monuments. nice old city (with white and blue couloured houses). Agadir is more modern, but it is still nice, you would think that you are in a spanish resort. both cities are closed to each other. If you want more info you can ask me no problem

Gooner we are heading to Agidir in July, never been to Morocco before but have heard the beaches are stunning, one of the reasons why we are going. When we come back I will write a short review for you, and no Morocco doesnt have its own forum as of yet.
I was in Marrakech at Easter and stayed in the hotel tchika which I would recommend. Very moorish and beautiful gardens & pool area. It is in the new town and from there 20 dirhams will take you anywhere in Marrakech. ( about £1.40) but DO agree the price before you get in to a taxi.
We had a great time and really enjoyed the exotic feel of the city, but take Alsacienne's advice re bottled water & eat in good quality restaurants & you should be fine. ( I always use those no-water liguid antibacterial hand gels....cuticura,I think make one, as hygiene standards beyond the hotel can be dodgy) We had no tummy problems at all which was a great relief as I had begun to get really worried.
Any more questions feel free to ask!
Feel much better already, the dates might have changed now b'c my other half wants another payday before going, so it might be last week of october, first week of november, anyone been to marrakech on these dates before, are they advisable?
If anyone has been on these dates then anything advice you have would be lovely, i think my email address is available if you would rather email me.
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LS
But i have just been informed by a hotel that my requested dates of between 26th oct and 9th nov falls on Ramadan, does anyone know how this will affect my holiday??? Thanks again for any help!!!!
I have been looking around and it seems that by prebooking 2 weeks at a hotel, we may be missing out on some lovely riads, etc that are really cheap and authentic and rather nice, what do you have to say about this? HELP! I am so confuuuuuused!! Maybe i shoulds top looking around, lol.
Thanks!!! ~LS~
Each to his own! It's so tempting to find just that little bit more ...
Ramadan means that there will be slower service than usual in the daytime, and that you may not be served alcoholic beverages (at worst!). Things will be very lively at night, when Muslims can eat and drink freely (they fast during the hours of daylight), but you might find some of the shops closed. I would strongly advise you to contact the Moroccan Tourist Office in London and ask their advice. They will be able to give you a more up-to-date point of view, and if you ask what happens as regards hotels, you should have more help!
As for the 'cheap' and authentic Riads - I can't really advise, because although the authenticity is certainly appealing, I can't help thinking that as regards hygiene, a cheap hotel or Riad may not be in your best interests. Have you considered pre-booking a week and then finding somewhere for your second week once actually there? You could also see if you could book another week at the hotel you're already at if you don't find something suitable ... but it may cost more 'on the spot' than pre-booked.
You could also contact a good tour agency (Atlas Tours who handle all of Marmara's FIT) to see if they could suggest some and perhaps even book on your behalf.
Do make sure your jabs are up to date though!
thank you both for your replys, we dont plan to go till late October and I dont plan to book for a while so Ill follow the threads as and whern they come up.
