Have been to Menorca quite a few times before but have always stayed at Cala'n Blanes so this time, we feel that a change is in order... not that there's anything wrong with Hotel Cala'n Blanes... we've always found it to be magic.
I'm just wondering if the Lago Gardens provide safe deposit boxes in rooms and also what the local restaurants are like... food, variety, value for money, cost, etc... Anybody got any favourites that warrant a mention? I'd love to get a few ideas before we go.
Also, is there a kids club and is it easy to get the kids in or are places tight?
Thanks,
Mike C
Mike - you won't have time to visit half of the restaurants there are so many. The beauty of CB is that they are all located around the marina so you can stroll round deciding which one to go in. My favourite was Aquarium (pricey) also La Marina on the other side of the Marina (bith great fish) Torro Negro (steak) and the Pizza restaurants just below Lago were good. Prices vary - starters, desserts & drinks bump up the cost!
Hello travelling to lago gardens in august.Could anyone state whether there is any laundry facilities on site? Also is there an iron in the apartments. How often do your towels /bedding get changed ? Would appreciate any help that anyone could give .Thankyou.
When ive been there, (quite a few times!) the towels and beddin are changed every other day - but ive not been in august as yet.
Im sure you will hae a really good time, and the entertainment staff this year are really good!!

We found the bedding was changed twice a week and the towels were changed 6 out of 7 days. Deposit boxes were available for a small charge (something like EUR 14 per week). There was a laundry service bag in the apartment but our TC Rep knew nothing about it and we didn't really bother asking anybody else. Travellers Cheques can be changed at Reception in Lago Garden.
We covered quite a few of the restaurants and we found them all to be great (and reasonably priced) apart from one. We weren't overly taken with the Toro Negro. The food was edible but we weren't exactly running back.
Beware of the henna tattoo sellers in the streets at night. One of our kids had a really bad reaction to the ink. Thankfully we were back home when it developed and could have been a costly experience out there.
Best restaurants we found were El pato, Gran Dragon (Chinese) and Restaurant la Marina. We found meals costing between EUR65 and EUR110 for two adults and three kids (allowing for generous flows of sangria and fizzy drinks).
The Lago Garden really is a lovely spot. The main thing that struck us about Lago was how committed the entertainment staff are. They work so hard and it really shows.
You'll have a great time. We can't wait to get back there.

Im glad you had a great time, last year the entertainment wasnt as good, there are a lot more animation staff ths year compared to last year and the year before. Theyre a great bunch of people, as are the staff at the hotel.
From what we picked up, they were expecting a lot of visitors from Scandanavia this year and they didn't arrive for one reason or another. Kinda threw the expected numbers outta the window.
Very nice spot for a holiday though - the Scandanavians don't know what they're missing.
Have you been to Lago this year?
M
Th scandinavian contracts have been lost for some reason, and now JMC offer this propery aswell as cosmos. It was nice visiting whn te scandinavians were tourists there as most of the animation team are either swedish, dutch or belgian. Alberto the head barman is a great guy too! i cant fault the place absolutey love it to bits! cant wait for my 8th visit whenever it may be! (might have to reschedule or september but dont think the finances will allow!)
Do yo thin you will go back?
Dont forget to post a review in the review section if you hvent already!

Didn't actually meet Alberto but Orlando kept the drinks flowing.
Like you, we were totally taken with the place and the kids are still going around singing in Spanish the whole time even though they don't understand a word of it. *lol* I've even started learning Spanish so I can translate for them.
We spotted your posts about Lago before we went and you seemed to be pretty positive about it, now I know why! Like you, we can't wait to go back. Roll on 2006.
Haven't posted a review yet but I certainly will. Only prob is that if too many people find out about our secret... sssshhhhhh...
M
I know what you mean! ive been in lovewith the place for 3 years now, cant fault it, i cry when i leave its like my secon home!
Very helpful, so there's not much more to ask!
Just one question: I'm going to Flora Gardens (alone, due to unexpected supplementary holidays ). I'd like to know:
1) Do FLORA GARDENS APTs. have tv set? Not watching it more than like 15mins a day, I guess, but you know, it helps to get asleep
2) I'm not that much interested in entertainment and village activities, so I'm pleased to read that they actually take place not in Flora but in Lago Gardens complex (so Flora is quieter but at the same time if I want to take part in some, I can go to Lago Gardens)
3) One bedroom apts are on the 1st floor with balcony, right? Any preference as far as the view is concerned? Should I ask anything in particular when booking?
4) Is air conditioning ok? Even if I'm going in mid-september, and I hope not to use it as much as I'd do in August.
