I knew everybody drinking a pint of water before bed after a night out would catch up with the islands water supply eventually! :D
Sorry no hard facts from me just bad jokes which only I think are funny. :)

We always go to the Balearics which aren't specifically mentioned in the reports. What surprises me though is that you see them spraying the fields in the middle of the day when a large proportion of the water evaporates away.

Gardeners are always advised to water plants at night - and that's over here.

We stayed at the Cala Nova Fiesta a couple of years back and they had tankers delivering water on a daily basis. many of the aquifers close to the coasts are now contaminated with salt and so water has to be transported from wells nearer the centre of the island.

Bit confused here... as far as I was aware the water on Ibiza was salty (but clean) all year round until recently when they brought the water purification plant near Ibiza Town into service, now the water from the taps is clean of salt. What are aquifers by the way?

aquifers (underground water supplies)

Friends of our that live in a villa in the middle of the island share an aquifer with the villas in the same road. Their water is pure and sweet straight from the ground untreated!.

apparantly problems are in southen mainland spain
waiter in Ibiza says they have no problem due to the purification plant in Ibiza town as water source is from sea.
We also saw giant free standibf tanker with sign stating drinking water 50 gals for 1 euro

It seems to be pretty bad on the Southern mainland, they're talking about the citrus crop being wiped out if it continues and the farming community are obviously facing a really hard time. Anyway it's ok you could always just drink San Miguel
