Welcome home Flooeeehy. I'm so pleased you had a fantastic time - I do like the idea of the limo but us poor souls on the Melody won't get that (or a safe). Actually the lack of a safe doesn't worry me as I've never bothered with one anywhere so I'm not going to start at my age.
This time next week I will be off and can hardly wait.

just thought I would let you know, no charge for the safe on the Opera, just put your combination in, you can request free tray of breakfast or a tray of tea in your cabin free till 2 a.m.,the safe is situated behind the mirror. phone calls are expensive. The @ sign on the keyboards are not the same as ours, and the cyber cafe is very dark. also something I missed out ,at Barri there is a free shuttle bus, which will take you into town where you will no doubt see peeps on the tour..look out for the square in Dubrovnik where bullet holes going up to approx 8 ft all along the square wall can be seen ,and the graves on the hillside. sad or what? still, no war is pleasant. they have nice bags in Dubrovnik I suspect like mine ,all made in china. If you want to spend a bit of time in Dubrovnik, make sure you get a low number for the tender to get you off the Opera early, otherwise you could be waiting over an hour and a half to get off in a tender..so get down to reception a,s,a.p in order to get a low number. make sure you are not last on the return as there is a bit of a wait and a scramble. beach towels are supplied free. :) best value for ciggies was katacolon, bangles, jewellery cheaper in Turkey,as opposed to Greece, Golden Virginia available at Istanbul 4 euros pack of five.or may have been 6 Euros.

Hi floeeohy
Did anyone do a trip in Bari or take a taxi to the old houses with funny rooves Trulli I think its called? Or do you not think it was necessary to do trip, Could you go to the beach in any of the places.

Hy all. The trips were much the same, as what we did, In Dubrovnik there was a beach excusion, but there was so little time on land it was impossible to pull it all in. we noticed that we kept meeting up with the tours, except when they had long coach journeys , when people said it was a long way and too hot . I would have loved a dip in the sea tho, but the only place where we actually had time on our hands was in Istanbul, having said that the pools and jacuzzis on the ship were great, we averaged around 3 hours a time ashore .

We walked around the town, being Sunday all the shops were closed, I did however go down all the little streets, it is not a large place and liked taking piccies of the washing strung up down the little narrow streets.sorry did not notice roofs was too busy finding a cafe with a view to having a beer with the others

In Barri there was a free shuttle bus which took us into the town just down the way from the ship It took us to a square in the town:D

Hi Floeeohy :)

So pleased you had such a great and interesting time!

What is your opinion of Bari for a weekend break? Are there lots of old buildings, narrow streets and little shops etc. or is it not the sort of place to go for a short visit? Your opinion would be much appreciated as I am thinking of taking a cheap flight there later this year.....

Cheers

Hi

If anyone is interested in going over to Capri when in Naples, the following site gives ferry/hydrofoil timetables and prices

http://lxtosh.ifsi.rm.cnr.it/SZ/capri2004/timetable.htm

By the way which port does the Melody dock in in Naples, there appears to be more than one, or is it just me being thick??

...........and talking of spreading the word, here`s a reminder for anyone who wanted to donate their HT points in a mass-donation day......it`s tomorrow, June 30th.

No pressure, no problems...........not compulsory or anything......just a fun way of boosting the total in one hit if that`s what "blows your skirt up" :rofl

The Melody docks almost next to the Capri ferry. It is a very short walk to town. I think it is the main terminal.

Thanks for finding the timetable.

Has anybody new been given a cruise recently or are they still being held back?

I will try to remember to donate my remaining points to-morrow, Tony.

Whatever happened to the legal dealings between HT and R***? Does anyone know?

I was thinking the same thing, Pat. Surely the lawyers have read all the original pages by now and can give an opinion. I posted originally that I hadn't had a cruise, and I still haven't, so where is the untruth in that?
I contacted R*** last month and got the 21day reply e-mail, and it's now 30 days and nothing.

Wow, I remembered all by myself that today is mass donation day so I will donate my points right now!

Thank you Tony and Kate for telling us about it! :o

Can anybody tell me if the Melody has camomile tea onboard? I hope so otherwise I'll have to drag my own teabags with me.

Yes it did when I was there, and various other herbal and flavoured teas. If you go to the port side in the cafe theres a nice chap there who likes to practice his English!
