Can any of the Alanya experts tell me what kind of trips there are available from Alanya.
Canyou book them through the reps or do you book with the hotels?
Last year in Tunisia we booked loads of trips through the rep and then some Tunisians came round the pool trying to sell you the same trips but at a lower cost. Is it much the same as this in Turkey?
Thanks again everyone!
It's hard to say what the best thing is to do when booking trips. You will find generally that the ones the reps sell are more expensive. there are lots of places to book trips in Alanya, you will find little shops with guys waiting to sell you stuff as you walk by!!
Boat trips are easily booked in the harbour, there are always guys there to book with. I would definitely recommend you go out on a boat, it's a fab day out!
I think the best thing to do is look around for good prices. Don't get there the first day and be pushed into signing up for every trip immediately!!
is there any fastfood places?
Best fast food though is a turkish doner kebab..and they are evrywhere
If you want fast food near the Robin Hood there are loads of little kebab take aways there - Great places to stop off on your way home from dancing the night away!!!
I am suprised they didn't have to roll me onto the plane!!
which place to you go to on the Dim river..we always go to Nehir one of the furthest up past where they are making the dam.
when will you be back
We always used to go further past the dam, but the last few times we have stopped just before it.
This year our friend took us to a place near Oba. It was a bit like Dim Cay with the river and tree house type places to eat. It was lovely and quiet there and the food was amazing!
I was hoping to go back at the beginning of September but I don't think I am gonna be able to afford it. If I don't go it will be the first time in 10 years!! Maybe if I can get some funds together I will aim for the beginning of October.
I would really love to move out there, I could've done it but again it's the money factor. It's cheap enough to live out there but I have got debts that need paying here!! Maybe in a few years when I am sorted!
that is a great place..its the oba cay..there is also another river with a few picnic restaurants on the demirtas road and another one in alara..maybe youve been? Alara is really lovely with an old Han where they do turkish nights.
the good thing about having so many friends in Alanya now, is that we get to see a completely different side to the place. We have been to some amazing places where there is not a tourist in sight (well apart from us!!) This is the Alanya I love, but i never say no to a night out in the harbour!!
i have totally fallen in love with alanya and the people too. have always loved turkey even worked out there last summer in a different resort and cant wait to get back!
if anyone wants to chat about alanya hit me back would be nice to talk.

ive already been twice this year to alanya and im counting the days until im back out there again. i fell in love with turkey the first time i went and i was only about 15 at the time....i love the people, culture and i love the scenery its beautiful.
i worked in kemer last year for the summer period, i was offered the job whilst i was on holiday and as soon as i got home i decided to pack in my job in london and go out there to work! i was working in a massive nightclub and loved every minute of it, free drink and i only worked five days a week.. so all my spare time was spent on the beach and on boat trips.
this year decided to go to a different part of turkey and decided on alanya, didnt know anything about alanya at all when i arrived but it was great i love it there,! as soon as i got back i booked to go again....yet again had a fantastic time. as soon as i got back yet again i booked my holiday to go back...sonow im just counting the days...
ive made some really good friends there and i have a b/f there too. spend most of my time on the beach sleeping and then back to the hotel to get drunk then hit the harbour....my favourite club was james dean! the owner made me dance outside the club and inside on tables to get more customers in and in exchange id get free drink....bit of a result! was even in the local newspaper twice in a week!
i didnt really do much else but i think this time around i will make more of an effort to do some things like turkish bath, boat trips etc. so i see alot more of alanya.
so ive dribbled on for quite a while now, so tell me what you like and get up to in alanya while your there, and when are you going back?

just wondered if anyone here has stayed at Alaiye hotel in alanya?
We usually go to Tunisia but thought we'd give Turkey a go and I don't think I've ever had a better holiday
We stayed in the Aytap which was basic but good - the staff were efficient (not over-friendly) and the rooms were nice and clean. it was right across from the beach and about a 30 minute walk from the centre - it was perfect.
We did the boat trip from the harbour and spent a day at Dim cay. We were supposed to go on another trip down the Munavgat River but they forgot to pick us up so we got our money back.
We ate most nights at either Caspers or the Happy Bar. They were both brillian - the staff were soooo friendly. (Caspers especially) We were all on first name terms with all the waiters and have exchanged email addresses. We will definitely be going back next year.
Staying close to cleopatra beach, not far from the castle.
Also in which direction are all the main bars, clubs (James Dean's!), is there a Bar Street?
Can't wait to get there!
cheers
the harbour is where the best night life is..with james dean, bistro bellman robin hood, etc etc ..all close to each other.
the beaches are very long on both side..where exactly are you staying?
Alanya is a fairly big town but the buses run all the time.
dont forget to have a day on on the Dimcay..great to cool off and recharge for another night out there are also some places on the river which are open very late.
theres also an all night disco in the auditorium and at Summer Garden in konakli.
theres no 'Bar Street' as such...just a great atmosphere.
Thanks for the info Will be staying at the Ergun Hotel, which i think is very central.
Not been in this part of Turkey before. I do alot of walking so can't wait to trek up to the castle for some panoramic piccies!
We always stay at the Ergun Hotel in Alanya. You are right it is very central. turn right out of the hotel, a couple of metres down the road and you are in the harbour. There is also a great bar opposite called the Panderosa, it's one of the most entertaining bars in Alanya.
If you want any info on the hotel or surrounding area just ask!!
also follow the castle walls from the harbour to the old selcuk dockyards..they look small on pictures but theyre huge like cathedrals inside..its where they made the old galleons..
and as crazyangel says ergun hotel is in a great place.
hope you have a great time
im off to alanya end of august till mid-late september, so i might bump into you! you will love it there..its fantastic..the clubs are great. the nicer beach is cleopatra.
james dean is great and so is auditorium, theres so much to do and see and the castle is fantastic...get a fantastic view of the resort very beautiful at night.
