Just got back from Dubai after a two week honeymoon which also included Mauritius.
Stayed at The Le Royal Meridien Resort and Spa (Bed & Breakfast)
Unbelievable service and hospitality.
Although there is lots of building work in that area & some days we could here a bit of it going on, it doesn't really affect your holiday along as you don't mind seeing cranes in the distance. (If you are thinking of staying at this hotel make sure you don't have an inland view as the building work will be a problem if you do)
We stayed in a Tower room with sea view (9th floor). Tower guests get a complimentary bottle of wine every day which is nice after a hard days sunbathing.
Weather very Hot!! (only dropped to 37 degrees at night) but both pools in the hotel were temperature controlled and were very refreshing. The sea was 36 degrees but absolutley fantastic. Sand was like powder and there was no slimy sea bed.
We didn't have any of the spa treatments at this hotel but did use the Hamann pools, sauna, steam room & jacuzzi which were all really amazing.
The Hotel has some amazing restaurants. The Prime rib and The Ossigeno being two of the best. Prices were about the same as a good restaurant in England with the(though the wine was around £20+ a bottle).
Went to the Gold souk where we were approached by lots of locals offering us fake handbags, watches, D.V.Ds e.tc. The gold shops are endless and can be quite overwhelming but if you know what you are looking for, and are prepared to haggle then this is good a place to go.
We also went to Deira City centre mall. (Next, Debenhams, Zara, Karen Millen e.t.c) There are also some gold shops here but the prices you can haggle to are a bit higher.
Went to Wid Wadi water park next to Jumeirah beach Hotel. (No building work up there) & were able to get some great pics of the Burj from here.
We took some Dirhams to Dubai but mainly used cards.
All in all a fantastic holiday.

I cannot rate this Hotel highly enough. Would definately go back, but probably during the cooler months.
