A good variety of tavernas and restaurants and shops without being commercialised too much.
Not really into clubs so don't need any of those.
We are a couple early 30's no kids. Don't mind children around but don't want to be bombarded by them.
Self catering apartment, within 1.5km of resort centre and beach as we don't mind a walk- able bodied so hills okay. Not really into hiring a car but happy to travel public transport.
Cost of food and drink to be taken into consideration as we will be on a budget.
Lovely scenery and architecture/historical buildings would be nice, although happy to travel to those.
Not lager louts, although we enjoy a beer or seven!
Have been looking at Tsivili in Zanta, Ag Nik, Elounda or Rethymnon in Crete? Any suggestions.
Have been to Hersonnisis and Kos Town and don't really want to go back to either of those resorts.
Thank you.
Rick.
Of your list I'd say Ag Nik, its a lively resort but isn't overrun by lager louts, has great bus links and some stunning scenery if you walk out of town a bit, especially up towards Elounda over the Mirabello Bay.
Harbour village, pebbly beaches and coves all around and is a great base to explore the rest of the island from in a hire car.
There are ferries which operate from the harbour, boat hire and a dive school as well of lots of lovely places to eat.
Know Tsilivi and Rethymnon pretty well - I think both a bit commercialised for you. I'd recommend Almerida in Western Crete. Smallish resort but enough restaurants and bars at hand - fantastic walks at Imbros and Samaria and lots of local towns/villages worth visiting including Chania, the old Venetian capital of the region.
Have a great time.
Look at Molyvos in Lesvos, no lager louts or Mc Donalds but plenty of lively bars and a really good local bus service
http://www.kosmar.co.uk 2 beaches,1 large sandy beach and a small pebble beach
paleochora on sw coast of crete, not too commercialised, great tavernas, all accomodation with a 1 km walk.check out Post a Reply
