Please can someone tell me which is the best part of the island to stay,
and any ideas on good self catering apartments and also when the best time to visit.
thanks all
I would recommend Kassiopi as a good place to visit.
It all depends if you are looking for somewhere busy with lots of nightlife or quieter with lots of nice tavernas or maybe somewhere in betweenie?
Jules
I would echo what Jules says. Me and my girlfriend (29 & 23) went to Sidari last year and really enjoyed it but its basically just a commercialised beach resort catering for British tourists. Don't think it would be the right resort for 'older' people looking for a quiet relaxing break. Maybe Kassiopi, San Stefanos, Paleocastritsa (which is beautiful) or Roda would be better. If its a taste of traditional greek life you're after Sidari wouldn't really be suitable.
I would recommend the North East of Corfu - Kalami, Kaloura, Agni Bay, Agios Stefanos. Direct Greece has some lovely apartments. We've been all over Corfu, Sidari, San Stefanos (West Coast), Agios Gorgeous but nothing is quite like the North East - apart from the beaches - mostly pebble but great for snorkelling and very clear water.
Aghios Gordios for me,this link gives good info about the place
HI there Presty, can recommend St George South, some lovely apartments there.Have visited this resort for the last 7 years and just love it there. It is quite a laid back resort with a beautiful beach.Plenty of tavernas, bars etc and good restaurants.Suits all ages looking for a relaxing holiday,no loud nightclubs!!But plenty of entertainment in the bars, that close when the last customer leaves!Have info on a good website, covering St George, let me know if you are interested.
it depends how old you are and what you like doing.if you are young and like the nightlife then deffo go to kavos but if you really like nice beaches and things like that then i would recomend a different resort!
Hoping to book Corfu for a week next May......anyone who has been there in the month of May...is it possible you could post what the weather was like then?
Many thanks
pojo
Usually go away in May and have always had a couple of days of rain but it is always lovely and warm.

If you want somewhere quiet, try Benitzes, if you want something quite loud and like night clubbing and pubs stay in the Resort of Sidari, especially Any other queries email me on laura@needham1979.freeserve.co.uk and I'll only be to glad to help.

Wanted somewhere quiet, so have been looking through loads of hotel reviews on this site, its so helpful!!
Sorry....but for some reason, my last post was posted on here twice, no idea why
Thanks again
if you want somewhere quiet have you considered San Stefanos NW this is near Sidari so if you wanted a bit more excitement you could visit. It is a lovely resort with a range of tavernas and bars and a wonderful beach quite a lot of discussion on a early thread if you scroll back . I am useless at putting on links etc.
I second that Trina I have stayed in san stefanos with my boyfriend and it is lovely quiet with a lovely atmosphere and beach and sidari is only a short taxi ride away if you want something a bit more livelier.
the kapetanios apartments are in alovely setting in San Stefanos if you dont mind a little climb. the pool and pool bar are very clean and the staff friendly. I have also stayed at the Voula which again is great however you really do have a climb home every night if you stay there!!!! If you want to do a do it yourself package then try Sunset Taverna he does have his own website. They do not have own pool but you can use others on the resort. This is on the flat as are The Olga apts also good with own pool. In fact I have not heard a bad report on any accom in the resort. As you may have guessed I am a bit of a fan.
Sounds perfect to me. Can you remember what travel agent you travelled with so I could take a look?
Never been to Corfu before so all info is very welcome indeed!!!
Thanks again.
