My chap and I visited Tangiers earlier this year in March. To be honest I didn't find it very sparkling.
Basically its a working port, and I don't think you would find a stereotypical 'Moroccan feel' for the place.
My image may be slightly clouded as it tipped it down for our entire visit. Its very popular with day trippers from Spain and I got the impression that the Moroccans knew you were there for 1 day so would try to sell you their grandmother (can't blame them)
Going to Marrakech in November and looking forward to it very much...
Does anyone know what the weather may be like then ????
Would you be a little darling and let me know how your trip to Marrakech goes. I do hope you have a smashing time.
Are you doing it yourselves or with a travel company?.

I forgot to mention that when we went to Tangiers we visited a little seaside town about 2 hours drive south on the coast called Asilah.
Beautiful small town with strong Portugese influences (whitewashed houses etc) Its right on the coast, which is stunning in itself. I would strongly recommend a stop there if you have the chance.
Re Marrakech, we have booked 2 weeks in Agadir with a tour company but are going to do Marrakech + elsewhere independantly.
Probably hire a car (grateful for any info on that score from other users)
Will let you know !!!
