My wife and I went to Lafkos in the Pelion last year with Tapestry Holidays.
It is wonderful and as close to real Greece as you could find. There are gorgeous beaches that at times will be deserted. We visited a couple of large beaches where they was only us and were never crowded. The mountain villages are so picturesque. The one thing you won't find (amongst others really) is major tourism. No souvenir shops - unless you hit the main beach resorts but they are very low key.
Food is inexpensive and most restaurants will tell you to look in the kitchen for what you want to eat rather than the menu.
I'd love to go back but for some mad reason Tapestry have stopped the Manchester flights. I'd be tempted to get a flight to Athens and drive to the Pelion. The road from Athens to Volos is very good and there is not much traffic in the Pelion.
I'd recommend it - but only if you like the quieter parts of Greece. Very relaxing.

I notice that Pelion is a featured resort on this website:

There is no place in Greece to compare with Pelion. See Kosmar brochure and visit http://delboy85.tripod.com/pelion/

Have been to both and although Troulos is pleasant enough it just dos'ent compare with the Pelion. Unspoilt and with few tourists its a beautiful part of Greece. Look at http://www.imagesofgreece.co.uk

Have not been to Pelion which sounds beautiful, but have been Skiathos which I did not find very Greek, Nice beaches if you are a beach person,
Like the sound of Pelion as I to like traditional GReek.

We went to Skiathos a couple of years ago and found it to be very expensive.

Some of the restaurants were very good, some dear, and the windmill way over the top, pricewise.

Troulos - not much going on, but a place to chill. Nice retaurants.

Next Greek holiday (as a couple - not family) will be on the Pellion.
