HI
After reading a post on Lagana being suitable for familes i need help! Am going in just over two weeks with children ranging from 3-12. Need to know where the family bars are. Where i can take children? It has been 5 years since we last went, and i hear a lot has changed since then.
Any info would be much appreciated.
Maria
to be honest laganas has expanded but with more clubs etc i dont recall any family pubs suitable but mind you the main season will be over soon so it will be less quiet
To be perfectly honest Laganas is not where I would take kids now it has just got too bad there at the minute. My daughter and niece have just returned, they are 18 and 19 and they found it to be too wild for them so, they were pleased they were staying in kalamaki. Jacqui
after a long hard think i recall a pub i use to walk by near the top of the resort. it was called pink panther or panther. it had appartments above it. they used to do karaoke on a wed and sun night which familys packed too on those nights. i could be wrong about the name though
I don't think you will struggle to fill the 14 nights with child friendly activities.. .. You're staying at the Alexander with a large group i think so you should be able to do a few deals as a group in the restaurants, bars and trips for the children. haggle haggle haggle have some fun with them over the prices.. As long as you're not too tough and you let them think they've done a good deal everyones happy..
One night out would be to do the Greek Night at Kampi for the sunset package.
Just down the road towards the beach is Yanni's restaurant.. lovely quiet restaurant.. good food and real friendly host.. our best restaurant in the town 2004..
If you come out of the Alexander and head up to the kalamaki road there are a few places just along there. If you go the other direction to the beach you will pass a few other bars and Tavernas in the quieter back streets. And there's all the bars and tavernas right along the beach front.
When you are on the beach in the daytime pop along and see whats on offer. And then there's the Alexander.. the kids are bound to make friends around the pool and the Alexander does some entertainment might be karaoke and bingo untill the littleuns are off to bed

Hi Maria hope you enjoy your holiday which i`m sure you will. Please could you write a report on here when you get back as we too have booked to go to laganas but for next year. Our son who will be 9 then will be coming with us so need as much info about bars and facilities for him he is okay during day just a pool babe lol. We are booked into the Garden Palace apartments so if you happen to see them could you please note where they are e.g which bars are near by. Thanks very much and happy holidays
Looking around the web on holiday sites the Garden Palace apartments are
located just 4 minutes walk from the sandy beach of Laganas, near the Ikaros Hotel
The Ikoris Hotel Apartments are situated on the Kalamaki Road.
Looking at the rescue club guide and other maps to Laganas to Laganas the Ikoris is marked in blue number 15. http://www.rescueclub.net/Rescue%20Guide.htm
I've just e-mailed someone from the just zante site hopefully to get the actual position of a few hotels on the list not marked.
paul..
Hi, yes the Ikaros Hotel is number 15 just across the road from the Alexander Hotel, it is well situated for every thing the beach, and the clubs if you want them, but far enough away from the noise, we are going there on the 25th of this month, it is 7 years since we were there so lots of changes? the Ikaros does have its own web site if you want to have a look
thanks for that info wudja.cudja.
I am sure we will find places suitable and after all a holiday is what you make it eh?
Is Lagana less busy this time of year- Early Sep? We went middle June last time, even though it was 5 years ago it was still busy.
As for eating- not used to this haggling but it has to be done this holiday! How much do i haggle down to?
Where else is there to eat. I hear there is a McDonalds? I am not a fan but for the kids? What other fast food restaurants are there? It has all change since i went last time?
Thanks
Thanks wudja cudja when i booked the holiday the travel agent phoned Kosmar as the Ikaros Hotel said 12 mins from beach and the Garden Palace said 4 mins yet the 2 accomadations are supposed to be near each other, like the travel agent said 2 mins is near not 8 mins like there difference (hope you understood that). I also found that map site and noticed a lot of apartments and hotels missing it would be good if more was on thanks anyway for your help much appreciated. I have 12 months to keep searching
Will be definatly writing up a report on my hotel and Laganas as a whole when i return. Us with young families need all the inforamtion we can get, as Lagana doesnt seem to be attracting or offering us much. Will check out your accomodation.....
Roll on the 8th Sep
Maria
if you can find the alexander hotel then the garden palace is just about 200 meters along the road towards the beach 16 of us were there last year and its brilliant yannis and his brother akis are the guys who own it and they are just great ,it consists of two buildings with the pool in between they do a nice breakfast and lunch/evening meal but theres just to many restaurants that you have to visit when you go there if your going about this time of the year then it will be just fine all the idiots will be back home by now tucked up in there police cell,s hope that you have great time when you go if you need any more info about laganas then you can send me a pm all the best jannie.
I'm trying to complete all the listings on the Rescue Guide.. see link below....
http://www.rescueclub.net/Rescue%20Guide.htm
Hotels are marked by BLUE cubes if you remember which cube is nearest to the position for the garden palace i can tick that one off.. ..
PS the Alexander is 18.. .
many thanks
paul.. ..
Hi Jannie no unfortunately we go 30th July next year so i think we will be right in the middle of the LOUD season (god help us) but i think were away from the centre of it all, but the rest of our family are in the middle but they know because this will be the 3rd time of going to the same apartments and have 2 kids ages 3 and 10 so i`m taking their word for it that its great and i`m thinking it can`t be too bad.If its any thing like Argassi we will love it as went there for honeymoon 12 years ago and took our son 2001 and know things have changed but cant be too bad like everybody says your holiday is what you make it, if you go with bad thoughts then you always look for the worse and spoil your holidays thats what i think anyway and who knows Laganas might make me feel young again not that i need a zimmerframe yet.Just maybe alot of supplies of hedex better start practising my dance moves.
zante has great weather but can have some awful storms etc once you hit september/october onwards. i think once october hits alot of the clubs shut for the winter. september should be fine. i imagine its still fairly busy but i doubt there will be many young ones there. but that should be a good thing for you and your family though. have a lovely time
hi wudja cudja, the garden palace would be number 19 just before the corner ,hope this helps you , jannie
hi joanne r the beach is about 4 mins fron the beach , if you follow the road down from the alexander hotel you then pass the garden palace you just turn the corner to your left and there is a small lane on your right hand side across from a small hotel just go down there and your there hope this helps you,all the best jannie.
