Hi, Angie Jane

We stayed at this hotel in June and I can certainly recommend it. The resort however is rather small and I would say would be enough for a week. 2 weeks is I think a bit long.

Hope you have booked a seaview. We booked with the hotel direct and got a really nice room. We did request and paid for a junior suite and thought that the room we received was nothing like the brochure. We expected a bigger room with a little couch etc. We asked at reception and was told yes that is a junior suite and yet the couple next door who had the same size room were told there's was a standard room but what the heck. The view we had was amazing we were on the top floor.

Back to business, there are plenty of sunbeds and you can also sunbathe under the trees if the weather gets too hot. The luxurious sunbeds around the pool are gone by 8.00 a.m.

It is a 5 minute walk to the marina which has a variety of restaurants, Tomato (?) was our favourite, there is an italian and also a lovely coffee shop selling nice cakes.

We did not do the dine around scheme as having checked with other reviewers it was not worth it. As far as I know they only give you 8 euros towards the meal.

There are a few restaurants in the marina that does the dine around and you only have to ask at reception when you arrive. They will tell you which restaurants are participating and will give you a map etc and also vouchers to give in at the restaurant.

The entertainment at the hotel was above average and had some really good shows on like Saturday Night Fever.

The prices around the marina were quite expensive but I always say "you're on holiday so what the heck".

Try and get a day trip to Thessalonica, it is an amazing city.

Any questions let me know.

Gail.

Sorry I forgot to mention I didn't travel from East Midlands but from Manchester with Excel. Never again would I travel with them. I have never been so couped up in an aeroplane like I did with them. I am only 5.2 but certainly had problems with the seat in front. Hubby had to tell the person in front to put his seat back as the table was resting on his knees!!

Coming back was hell, two planes going out the same time, 400 people in a queue and and are told to join a second queue and then told to go back in the first queue. Fights and arguments breaking out. I just wanted to get home.

Hopefully you'res will be okay!!!

Hi Gail
Thank you so much for replying to my questions. Just one more I would like to ask - Did you have any problems with mosquitos or notice any there? I have never been bitten by one ever but saw some at the airport in Turkey.
Thank you so much for the information you have provided, it was very useful.
Regards,
Angie
P.S. Hope my flight is better than yours lol :D

Angie,

yes we did get bitten I am afraid but not as bad as others. Even though we sprayed ourselves of a night. I have now been told to take some allegy tablets whilst you are there. The hayfever relief tablets from Boots (their own make grey box) are really good. My friend took them whilst she was in Egypt and never had any problems. I think you take one a day for a couple of days. The doctor told her that it is not the actual bite which causes problems it is you reacting to the bit which gives the itch etc. I know what I will be taking on my next holiday. Nothing will stop the midgies biting you but at least you wont be itching.

Have a nice time.

Any other questions I will try and help.

By the way did you book with the hotel direct? We checked the Thomson brochure and then compared prices with the hotel. We got the holiday £400 cheaper.

Hi, returned from Sani Beach Hotel last week after a very nice holiday. We did find it expensive to order drinks from the bar but I bought the children's drinks in the supermarket and put them in the fridge in the room and because the room was so near they could go and help themselves. One tip is pay for your drinks as you go. You can sign them to your bill and pay at the end but a lot of people were losing track because they give you no receipt at all. I took the yellow copy of the bill and when I paid I noticed that 10 percent had been added here and there for tips which I had not signed for because I tipped separately.

Arrange with the hotel direct for their sunset cruise (book early as soon as you get there). It is for an hour and you get a glass of asti and a canape. It is beautiful and it is FREE.

I will write a trip report tomorrow but feel free to email me with any questions. :D

I forgot to mention use the shuttle bus to go to the Sani Beach Club for dinner. A far nicer restaurant with big wicker chairs and amazing views out to sea. It does not cost any more as it is part of the dine around without additonal cost. We used the italian in the marina and used our 8 euro discount but it was very very expensive.

I got bitten even though I don't normally. This could be due to the fact that the land is reclaimed marsh land.

You will have a great time. Apparently 30 percent are repeat customers and indeed we met people that have been there 5 times before. I found it quite isolated and there are no real day trips. Avoid the trips arranged by the hotel except for market day. I will go back but not for the foreseeable future, however my son wants to go back next year.

Thank you Gail for the advice about the mosquitos. I have some mosquito patches, although never used them and some spray, and after sun with repellant in, but the allergy tablets are a very good idea and I always take some since I had prickly heat in Portugal and needed to get some there. You really have been very helpful.

Thank you also Neavsie, the information and help you have given me is most appreciated. I did wonder if you could use the restaurant at the Sani Beach Club or Asterias Suites, and their facilities. It is not totally clear in the brochure, but I will definitely try the Sani Beach Club restaurant, people generally seem to think the dine around idea is good but a bit of a rip off in restaurants at the Marina. I suppose everyone to their own. I love good food but I dont expect to pay the earth for it.

I did work out how much I could have booked the holiday for in comparison to Olympic Holidays who I have used, and yes I could have saved about £200-£300 so that is definitely worth looking into, especially due to the fact that they give you a free taxi if you stay longer than 7 days. I have booked a sea view room by the way Gail, forgot to mention that. It just looks so beautiful, but they always do in the brochures eh?

About the idea of pay as you go drinks Neavsie, I have given this much thought since I ended up in an argument in Turkey when they charged me for something I didn't have, but in the end I had to give way and they took the money. Mostly to be honest we did pay as we went, and tipped the people who we thought deserved it most at the end of our holiday, and they were extremely grateful. It seems to be the best thing to do since at the moment I haven't got a clue how much a drink is going to cost me. So can you go and use the entertainment in other parts of the resort and if so can you recommend where would be best. We are in our forties so although we do like rock music, are not very keen on dancing shows etc, find it a bit boring, but some people love it and that's fine by me. I suppose its a case of getting there and finding out for yourself.

Again, thanks for your help, both of you and if you think of anything else you've forgotten, I would be happy to hear from you.
Regards,

Angie,

As Neavsie has said, the drinks can be quite expensive in the marina and I found it was easier to pay as you go. With regard to entertainment unless you stay at the hotel for its entertainment I would not say there is any at all. Possibly a few bars with music. All in all I would say that there are about 9 restaurants and bars around the marina. We did actually go to the Water Restaurant on our last night as we knew it would be expensive. In the end it cost us £95! for a two course meal and one drink but hey it was our last night.

I did feel that after about the fourth night it got a bit monotomous (I think that's what I mean????) going to the marina every night.

As Neavsie said get the shuttle bus to the beach club, they have a lovely restaurant there and the brasserie does some lovely lunches.

As I enjoy my food I though the resort was lovely but after having been to Vilamoura in Portugal this unfortunately takes second place.

It is quite a deserted place and the only trips that are done that ones that take you to a local village which was not up to much.

I know you will enjoy it as much as we did.

Thanks Gail for your help and the information was most helpful. I cant believe they can charge £95 for that - daylight robbery lol. :D
I hope it was worth it
I am sure we wil have a good time, and I will write and let you know when I get back, still 30 days to go though
Better to be ahead of me than behind I reckon. I always think its best to be aware of these things before you go.
Many thanks,
Angie xx
