The dominican republic is a popular place to get married. Its also one of the cheaper islands of the dominican. Apparently according to my travel agent, its "The poor mans caribbean"

The dominican is such a beautiful country and has the most amazing beaches and scenery. I wont be reccomending a hotel though as ours was rubbish!

What about Margarita Island. We were there in 2003 and met a couple who got married out there. It was beautiful, very cheap and as there aren't as many people there as the other islands, you'll find that yours maybe the only wedding there for the whole holiday. When we were in Mexico last year, there was a wedding every day.

A friend of ours got married in the Dominican Republic two years ago and hasn't stopped raving about it.

We didn't go but those who did have said that the place is out of this world - better than the Caribbean even.

Check out the Sirenis Tropical Suites in Punta Cana, a good hotel and within your budget I think.
I did see a couple of weddings there and they looked perfect, the wedding gazebo is right on the beach but I didn't like to take any photos of the actual wedding.
My spring 05 pictures of the hotel are in the gallery, it was such good value we are going back in Dec.

You do want to be careful however if choosing the domincan republic as the paperwork can really sting you. we was told by our agent it would be around £500 it cost double that!

Hi Gunngirl.

We were lucky to get invited to a wedding in Puerto Vallarta from a couple we met while on holiday there.
The weather was fantastic and the ceremony was just beautiful.
We were actually on our honeymoon at the time and thought at the time that a wedding here would have been perfect as well.

So my recommendation to you would be Puerto Vallarta in Mexico.

Cheers Ken. :)

We got married in Punta Cana, 26th January 2006. We stayed at Riu Palace and had our wedding on the beach. It was truely stunning.

Very relaxing, very personal, stress free & very romantic

Yes, admittedly the paperwork before you go, is a bit on the pricey side, (approx £650) but having said that, I wouldn't have changed location for the world.

Our whole wedding/holiday package was approx £2900 (exc paperwork)for 2 weeks AI.

Photo's are taken wherever you want them. You have a gala meal in the evening. Your flowers are displayed on the table, along with your wedding cake, wine & candles.

I would highly recommend this.

We had the time of our lives :love

Hi all
I am new to this site and I was wondering if anyone could recommend anywhere to get married in the Carribbean? I am leaning towards Barbados but would like to know more about it.
I am very fussy with my food, would this be a problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

If you have any additional questions, please ask in here.... I've been 10+ times and will be able to answer quite a few queries.

Incidentally, I'm getting married in Barbados in November

and he's asked all the mod/admin team to his wedding! Isn't that good of him! :D
On topic- cant think of a better place than Barbados for a wedding. In fact I am sure one of our admin married there too. Go for it! Only thing to watch for is the month of the wedding. If you are thinking Summer than there is more of a chance of some rain.

Congratulations and Best Wishes to you Mark!
Thanks to you both for your reply! I will have a look at your signature site now!
Is the weather bad in June then?
Thanks

The weather in June can be unpredictable as it is in the hurricane season.

Mind you, Barbados has not had a direct hurricane hit for over 50 years now. That is not to say it won't happen in the future as mother nature can be unpredictable.

Thanks Mark! We were thinking of June but I think I'd prefer to go in February as that's when we first met each other. I'm just browsing that website now so thanks for that!

June will be fine in Barbados- it has about 4 in of rain. It rises to 6 in July and August. Barbados is somewhere I would be happy to go to at any month but whichever you do go in- there is always some "liquid sunshine"!
Islands best to avoid in June would be Bahamas, Grenanda, St Lucia and Turks and Caicos.
Jamaica has less rainfall at 3in and Aruba is the best of all at 2in!

Thanks again for that! I don't mind a bit of rain, not too sure about hurricanes  I guess 50 years without one is good but like Mark said, with Nature you never can tell lol!
What is the food like in Barbados? Is it mostly seafood?

meant to add- whichever island you decide upon check their hurricane history. The hurricane season officially starts on June1st.
