The wife is trying to persuade the family to return to the Vendee again this year. We've spent time in St. Jean & St. Gilles, but not St. Hilaire (she's got a thing about Saints) . Has anyone stayed in, or heard anything about the site Sol A Go Go. The brochures give it full marks, but don't they always?

Bien amicalement!
Go for the Saints! Those in the Vendee are great! Seriously though, why not see if the local town/commune has a website or brochure and cross-reference with this for info? You may even be able to book directly and save money!
Stayed there in 2004. Direct access to the beach is brilliant and the beach stretches for miles. Generally small pitches and no shade to speak of but a cooling breeze helps. Indoor pool ok and outdoor ok for kids. Near to shops and supermarkets/restaurants. Friendly staff and reception with information/help. Easy going feel and better for being smaller than the huge sites further from the beach. Easy(ish) to find next to a small road leading to public beach car park.
Good facilities and entertainment though and beaches directly by the site are good, the bays nearer St Gilles de Croix are fantastic and were very quiet when we were there.
Returning to the area next year with Keycamp again but using Les ecruils campsite which is nearly opposite Sol a gogo. Little bit further from the beach but looks an even nicer campsite and pool and more sheltered - we hope!
Don't know that particular site but have had a couple of great holidays just to the north of St Hilaire at Prairie. If you get a chance try the Velorail at Comenquieres.
