Have you checked out:
I have been to southport and wales but never been to blackpool,i know that southport is bad but can anyone who has been in the blackpool pontins shed some light please?
Hi, is it actually in Blackpool? - only I've stayed at the one in Lytham...
The only recollection i have of the place is taking a bus to St Annes one day, and the bus driver shouting 'anyone for Stalag 13' as he approached Pontins!
Looks a bit bleak from the outside, cant comment on the inside though.....sorry if that doesnt sound good!
We've stayed in the Blackpool/Lythm Pontins a few times (the last time being last October).
Generally, it's not fantastic, it's old and grotty, and the food tends to be a bit nasty too...... BUT, we do keep booking there, and plan to book for Oct 2006 for a simple reason - most of the accommodation is grotty too!
Our reasoning is that with Pontins you get spacious (and generally clean) accommodation with clean bedding and towals. There is space for the kids to run around outside, and garunteed parking - which is a HUGE bonus for anywhere in Blackpool. You are away from the noise of blackpool, which is another bonus if you are taking kids, and there are bars and entertainment (without the filthy comedians) there if you want them.
As i said, the food isn't up to much at all - works conteen style - but there is plenty of it (as much as you can carry back to your table) - and actually the cooked breakfasts are fine.
When we go, we only use the place as a base. We will have breakfast there and the venture out for the day. Depending on what time we get back to the place, we may have tea there (if the queues aren't to long) or eat in Blackpool later. Other than a couple of drinks in the bar before bed, we don't even use the evening entertainment.
We really do use the place just as if it were any other B&B in Blackpool, but with no parking problems.
I have an uncle who lives in the flats right next to pontins at blackpool with it being directly at the end of the airport runway would think you would get a lot of aircraft noise as ryan air fly to various destinations, when they come in or take off they seem to be about 50 ft above the chalets, must be a nuisance.
we stayed there about 10 years ago, it was filthy and the food was disgusting, i hope for your sakes its changed, i wouldnt have put a dog in there, good luck.
We found the pontins in blackpool to be fine,it does look bleak on arrival but we were Quite please with it.
We were in a standard room and it was lovely decor, bedding was nice and also clean.it also had tv and video combind.(take some video's for kids to watch)also cartoon network and a couple more sky channels.
Food was nice to be honest only the roast potatoes were not nice and they were served on the two days we were there, but there are chips if you fancy a change. There was a salad bar, that was really nice(all sorts of different meats, pasta's,ect)also soups, bread rolls, ect main meal and desert and you could go as many times as you liked.
It was right next to blackpool airport and sometimes they did fly quite low,my husband joked that the pilot had just took a sausage off his plate as he flew past. To make matters we didnt know that there was a air show on in southport which also came very low over blackpool,it was good to watch but alittle scary at times as they were really low.
The planes did not stop us from sleeping though.
All in all i would go back to pontins(blackpool)
Hubby,me and kids really enjoyed are break and really didnt want to come home.
Thanks again
Kerrie
We went to pontins in blackpool last year and really enjoyed ourselves, The apartment was really clean and bright, We were very pleased with it The food was lovely and lots of it too. I was just wondering if anyone had been this year And if so is it still nice We also want to take the kids to the pleasure beach, How much is it for the wristbands for a family of four ( bands for all rides) and can you catch a bus from outside pontins itself How often do they run
Any info good or bad would be great
Thanks
kerrie
What are your experiences at Pontins Blackpool Holiday centre?
The place is very very dated, it is like something from the 60's that has been spruced up but we have to stay there if we want to enter the football tournament. It is quite expensive to stay and pricey for the drinks etc at night.
I stayed last year in mid-April when it's booked out for a big salsa weekender every year. The basic chalets are basic but ours was clean with decent bedlinen and the hire towels were of decent quality and size. There's tea and coffee making facilities but no fridge and we went expecting it to be cold given the time of year but found our chalet too hot because there didn't seem to any way of turning the heat down or even off! The food was quite good for a mass catering operation - a choice of mains courses etc and the salad bar was very good. And it was certainly plentiful - I doubt that anybody need ever go hungry. Also, there was decent choice of veggie options too. All in all we thought it was good value for money and didn't think the drink prices in the bars were that bad. I can't comment on the usual evening entertainment because there wasn't any - just dancing, dancing and more dancing but that is why we went
